If you’re right hand dominant you should be operating with your handle on the left side of your body, that’s part of the design of that handle is to get the steering across to your left side and also adjust it to hip height while standing. Highly recommend a grab bar. Great vid man thanks for posting!

I've never run a mud motor, but I've read there is a sweet spot in the wake where the water is actually flowing forward. When the prop is in that spot, the water is helping push you forward. I bet you'll get the hang of it pretty quick!!!

Do you have the trim bolt in? It looks like you are still having to fight it. I had modify mine. Works more like a tiller vs a long tail. Also. Do not trust the mount. Had mine come loose when going through nasty stuff. Pain but get the engine where you want and drill through the transom. Don't want to be in the marsh or on the highway and drop the motor off.

@trevorfretwell99624 жыл бұрын
Hey bud i also have a mud skipper surface drive and i found that if position the unit slightly above the bottom of the boat and put trim pin or bump stop in middle position it will get you really close to the sweet spot but you definitely want the prop shaft on the surface the prop being half way out of the water and the motor will always kick up if you go over a log
@DuckGunChronicles4 жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks man! Ya, I ended trimming it up quite a bit and it was a lot better

@@DuckGunChronicles You may need a jack plate to get it both high enough and level with the water. Is that a 14x32 jon? Thats a lot of motor for that boat. Be careful not to roll it with the motor up high it will get tippy.
@SomewhereInWisconsin4 жыл бұрын
Looked like fun. By chance do you have a tall transom? If you had a short transom I don't think the throttle bar would be up so high when you are operating it. Hope you find a fix!

I recommend a grab handle and solid footing to stand while running. Your handle is way to tall imo. Should be waist high. There is a definite learning curve with mud motors.

U gotta change that handle bud or make u a hande to hold onto so u can stand up. And is ur blind permanent? Might be easier to run if you can taje it off when running then put it on when u get to the hole. JS

Agreed. We put a 9-horse Mud Buddy on a 24ft pontoon blind on Saginaw Bay Lake Huron when the.lake levels were way low in the early 2000s. Maneuverability was crap and it was slow but it got us through all the mud flats. Definitely need to get used to standing while under way!

@@jacksonseale7191 I have a twister, with the 212 engine. For a boat that size its plenty and way less wrasslin. The 22 could push a 16ft hybrid flat. Cant really beat it for getting in WAY to the back of your favorite hole without an hour of push poling in the dark.
