I speak English badly. Ears only change the weight and elasticity of the toast.What you showed here with a reed depends on the material, the line of the board, the tonal channel and the position of the sweet spots.

Bought a Jj lares with sharp dog ears. Can’t blow it worth the shit. It doesn’t like grunt air either. Has 0 rasp. Had to make my own reed like yours . I got my rasp back and I can grunt again. Great explanation! Hard to find information like you described ty!

tzugg1 no problem. Could also be air isnt getting out of hole fast enough. Just look at spit marks, the should be low and not way up the tone board.

No. Drill the hole out deeper or change the exhaust hole.

I’ve trimmed my reed on my duck call and it sounds good when I quack. But when I blow hard to do hail call it freezes up and no sound comes out! Help!!! I turned the tone board myself.
