Duck Calling 101 | Breakin' it down!

A detailed video of my trying to share my knowledge of the art of calling ducks.I've wanted to make a video like this for a long time to share my passion for duck hunting. I can't think of a greater joy in a hunt than using a call made by your own hand and working ducks into the hole. I hope you guys enjoy the video and I hope it helps someone. @@BackFortyTV question for you brother- I have a mallard "yo sista" call from Primos. My tones are definitely different than yours and I guess I'm wondering if I'm studying the wrong call, tune whatever you wanna call it. Also, could you recommend the next duck call to purchase if I have a standard mallard call. Thank you kindly again!

My throat is getting sore after practicing this method of cutting off the beginning of the call with my diaphragm. I’m guessing after practicing for a while that will go away? Your calling is the most natural sounding I have found on KZbin, so just trying to get as close to your sound as possible. Also it is very hard for me to get a good cadence down. To sound natural I have to do my cadence very slow. Is it something like the feed call, where the more I practice the faster I’ll be able to string my notes together?

Thanks for the kind words! And yes, the more you practice, the faster you will get. It took me a long time and many hours of practice. I’ve never had my throat really get sore, but I’m sure like singers exercise their vocal chords, yours will get stronger. I really hope the video helps and I’ll answer whatever questions you have the best I can.

It’s one I made myself. Cocobolo barrel with poly casted inserts I buy (not echo) and I cut my own reeds. They sound pretty good. Check out my Instagram “back_forty_tv”. Got a few more videos on there.
