Awesome hunt! I wish we had some cooler weather here In Colorado. we’ve had 60s and 70s for weeks now. Also I’m loving the solo hunting. I think that sailor was from 7:27. Another bird glides down from the massive flock.

In ice, always walk or break the ice on the down wind side first. Try to leave it in as big of sheets as you can and either slide it under the remaining ice. If you can get the large sheets on top of the ice you can shove the sheets away from your hole. Then do the same where you want your decoys. The first open hole gives the ducks a place to land and it also gives any small pieces of ice to float out of the decoys, giving the decoys more open water to move in with the wind.

Great idea! I wish I could have done that here. Unfortunately it was about 3” deep and the ice was just sticking to the mud mostly.

Dude, get some mittens. They make them with shooting fingers too. Waterproof and windproof ones with a hand warmer is the way to go.

Great video, my hands get cold too and the only two things I’ve found work are Mittens with disposable hand warmers because your fingers are close together keeping them warmer and the second a good hand muff like the Sitka or first lite one with disposable hand warmers or reusable ones. Gloves have never worked for me I’ve always had cold hands .

They were about 30 yards. I would have liked them a little closer but the shore was so shallow I had to get out a bit to break the ice and have decent water! Thank you! 👊

Brrrrr! You've got the balls (if they haven't dropped off) to shoot in weather like that. That was a great varied shoot. The last time my brother and I shot, when realy cold, the sea was freezing in rings around the decoys; and 5 tufted ducks came in-we got the lot, and our first of this species. No one else was out that day. If you don't you don't get.

That’s for sure! These were the Sitka Pantanal GTX gloves! They worked pretty good, I like how they were fully waterproof. But I was taking my hands out of them a lot so they ended up getting a little cold!

Drake Waterfowl Refuge EST I use but they have the LST which are even thicker and longer but I like the fact you can shoot with the est still. Maybe the LST you can too

Tons of spoonies here in CA, most ppl dnt like their taste since they filter mud on the bottom with their bills. But to me, it just varies on that individual duck. The spoonies I've eaten tasted fine and the worse ducks I've eaten are widgeons. Even the gadwalls here taste fine but you'll get the few widgeons that just have that gamey/dirt taste.
