I have never been solo hunting In the 5 years I've been duck hunting and today was my first solo hunt and I only got 1 duck. But it was a mallard drake with 4 curls and it was my puppy's first solo retrieve. Today was still a fantastic day.

I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time now. Really enjoy your content. I like the way you have your dog placed immediately behind you - she sees what you see. Watching your videos makes me want to get a lab to hunt with. It appears to add even more enjoyment to duck hunting. Thanks for the hard work and obvious sacrifice that goes into making these videos. Not just GoPro shots but you must not shoot in order to video with an actual legitimate camera and the end product is so much better in my opinion. This video in particular had beautiful footage - felt like I was there also. Keep up the good work and sharing your faith.

I %100 agree with the shot selection bit. People need to be causeas of what birds they shoot at and how far and almost never when the bird is flying away in direct line. People need to be held accountable for the limit if they have a wounded or unretiveable bird, personal accountability! Above all else it is a disrespect to the ducks and the duck hunting community. Thanks!

Had pintails in my dekes all afternoon yesterday after I shot a hen too Elliot. I think they know or something. Out west it’s getting frustrating when the teal move on, 80% of the birds are pintails lately. I only shot the hen because I swore it was a gadwall. How it came in it looked nothing like a pin lol

I shoot the Sacramento Valley rice fields and we have pintails a plenty. They are tricky birds to finish, no doubt. Always bouncing on the outside of the spread. Occasionally blowing a two note or three note yodel from a speck and a few clucks might help if the whistle or mallard call stops working.

In your last video, I recall you taking a rather lengthy shot at a drake mallard that was flying away from you, only to have it drop and swim away/not be recovered. So while your rant on shot selection is warranted, the timing is rather hypocritical.
@FreelanceDuckHunting
@FreelanceDuckHunting 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremy, i'm glad you brought that up. Here are a couple reasons why I completely disagree with you that it was hypocritical. 1. You can't judge distance watching a video through a camera lens. That shot on the other video was not as far as it seemed. Although I realize I shouldn't have taken that going away shot. 2. It was further than I like to shoot and I immediately stated I should never have taken that shot. It was a mistake on my part for sure! 3. There is a huge difference between making a mistake on shot selection once in a awhile vs constantly shooting outside of 45 yards and not realizing the harm you are doing. I try extremely hard to control my shot selection but there will be times I make a split second mistake. But I can promise you when I make those mistakes I mentally log it and do everything in my power to do a better job on not pulling the trigger the next time.
