Awesome points about the sun. Sometimes it takes 'breaking the decoy rules" to get your decoys out into the sun where they can be seen. Especially in tight holes, sometimes it isn't until later in the morning when the sun gets a little higher that the birds start to take notice of your spread. "Wind is your friend and the sun is fun."

What do you do on cloudy days in order to hide better, and help the ducks see your decoys?

Try few decoys tighten them up with mallard machine in middle for more ripping affect

Use whiter decoys- widgeon, pintail, canvasbacks, mallards that are more white than grey. You really need to focus on hiding and not moving on cloudy days. That’s more important than anything
