So as a young teen, we went out and hunted on Native lands cus we can and never went through half the trouble yall go through and since the ducks come from HERE we get them anytime as well as the deer and moose and bear BUT in respect to our ancestors we ONLY take what we can carry out and eat any left we give to our elders.Now I havent hunted in 45 years but I do love ice fishing and smelts in the spring and that is all i do now at 65 its just me and my wife now so we eat once a day-dinner and she still works at 73 so has a lunch. Try not to buy any meat other than hamburger the rest is for stews, roasts and soups.Yall have a rich area there so Bless ya for saying our Canadian Anthem well keep sending ducks and geese your way. Just did our first hunt with my best friend since 7th grade, in Matagorda. My buddy got a beautiful pintail to mount. Can't wait for teal season in Texas. Love watching these guys! God bless!

Joe, SWEET. I've always wanted a pintail. All the years hunting, the only time I've seen then is in spring on their northern journey. They do a cyclic migration, not a 'linear' up and back, following the same path. According to the biologists I spoke with at Medicine Lake, the birds I see are Pacific flyway when southbound, and return on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mtns. Which is neat cause you get to see them all spruced up in their breeding color (like a cinnamon teal, ever see one of those? I got a picture of one in February on the Bighorn River below the dam.
