The "duct" variation and familiar silver color come from its commercialization. Although you'll rarely find anyone that actually uses it for duct work (fire hazard).

Erm, no? All it says is 'I am me and I do my own thing in this space' to me. We do things differently in the 21st century and we should not have expectations of others, even of others in our own demographics. I like that this video flies directly on this path and challenges that old paradigm without getting whiney and upset about it. We all should be strong in ourselves and own our personal uniqueness. Men do not need to be the fixers these days. They do not need to know how to load a trailer properly and tie ropes properly, just because they are male. There are removalists they can hire to do that. It's wholly unfair and outdated that one should keep judging another based on 20th century stereotypes that they happen to slightly resemble in some way. I appreciate this video a lot. #respect This video might be more intelligent and with the times than even the creators realise.

@@vapx0075 Hey, so my reply wasn't meant to be dismissive of men trying to break away from toxic masculinity. It was more amazement that someone posting a song on duct tape in the 2010s assumed that the natural audience was 100% dudes. That seems more than a bit weird. I think in terms of what you're saying, guys shouldn't feel a need to be the fixers 100% of the time. That's not necessary or healthy gender dynamics. But turning away from it entirely means that you're missing out on an important life skill that can make things easier and much less expensive in the long run. It's like women turning away from cooking because of toxic feminity - ladies shouldn't need to be the default food preparer anymore than dudes should be the default fixer, but not learning how to cook is just shooting yourself in the foot because its a vital skill necessary to live in the world. Both ladies and dudes should learn how to cook, and both ladies and dudes should learn how to fix things. How that shakes out in relationships should be up to the individuals involved, and who actually wants to do what. Anyways, I fixed my cabinets using my power tools last week and I'm feeling pretty smug about not having to call a handyman. I also discovered how to make pumpkin pie from scratch. this is news to me lol i'm a grown woman calling it duck tape, i'm probably not gonna stop.... I looked it up the name duck tape may originate in WW 2 the military needed waterproof tape to keep water out of munition cases so they went to a company for such tape. It was made out of a poly adhesive and Duck cloth, that the solders called it duck tape for they type of cloth and water resistance. Then post war people started to use it for duct work, and they name slightly changed as it went from original green to sliver we see today.
