18 years ago a slight lapse in concentration crushed Pascale's dreams of surfing. With the help of a family friend and a roll of duct tape; she can now call herself a surfer.

This is an awesome video, and kudos to the surfer for taking her out. :) Surfing without any additional weight takes a huge amount of skill from pretty much every body system, so surfing with an adult on your back would be pretty damn hard I would imagine! :)

I think the last scene of her in this video is in a harness. If he wasn´t strong enough to support her he wouldn´t have been able to walk or even get out there on the board. But clearly they both knew the risk.

As a surfer, I'm not sure the harnesses would be safer than the duct tape. The beauty of the duct tape is that she is pretty much using his muscles. It seems like the harness would be less secure, IMHO.
