Today is 13 years since we lost our amazing Corey Haim. He was gone way too soon. Thanks Mike for dropping this reaction today.

Fun fact: The scene where David sheds a single tear wasn’t planned. The actor (Kiefer Sutherland) said the contacts hurt his eyes so bad that he couldn’t hold back the tears. The director thought it was perfect and kept the scene in.

YES you were so right about the vibes. And the aesthetics-the settings and costumes etc. I think that’s one reason I like it so much. That, the fact that it’s an iconic ‘80s time capsule, and how flipping hilarious it is. MICHAEL

The origin of the phrase "Murder capital of the world" is interesting. Santa Cruz California (here Santa Carla), had a little serial killer problem back in the 70s. So, the local paper ran that phrase as a headline. Connecting this movie to the real world killings of Ed Kemper and others. Makes it extra creepy, right?

I absolutely loved ❤ your reaction! I had the privilege of seeing this movie in the theaters when it came out the summer of 87. I loved it so much. I literally saw it 10 times before the year was out. I was absolutely in love with Kiefer Sutherland and his bleach blonde hair. I thought he was so freaking cool. Of course, I thought everything about the movie was cool, like you said. Who wouldn’t want to be there? California, young, vampires, live forever AND it’s the 80s. I went right out and bought the soundtrack on cassette tape and played the hell out of it. Today I have that soundtrack on my Amazon playlist. Thank ❤you for the reaction. You were awesome.

The tears were actually a side effect of the contact lens they had to wear. They were the type of lens that covered the full eye and blocked air from getting to the eyes. They were extremely painful to wear, and the scenes had to be short to avoid any real permanent eye damage.

Honestly these are the scariest vampires I’ve ever seen. They look terrifying. Btw the guy that plays the little brother together with the intense vampire hunter kid were really popular in the 80s but unfortunately the one that plays Michaels little bro (Corey Haim) became an addict and died a few years ago

Funny… someone in the cast does do the voice of a teenage mutant ninja turtle but it’s Corey Feldman and he plays Donatello. Also, what makes holy water holy is the fact that it’s blessed by a member of the clergy. This movie and Labyrinth are my favorite movies of all time. Have you ever seen Goonies or Stand by Me? Because I think you would enjoy them and that Stranger Things vibes they have.

i love this movie and the dog that played nanook bc of how protective he was and always came in clutch saving people, so much that i even named a german shepherd that i had Nanook and he was just as protective over me and ironically 3 years after that we got a husky too her name was willow tho. also holy water is just water that have been blessed by a member of a clergy. fun facts: contact lenses haven't always been what they are today, they used to be made of glass so all the colored contact lens in this movie was made of glass so the scene where david sheds a tear after being burned was unscripted, his eye was just hella watery from the lenses but it was a great take so they kept it in. the part in the cave wear the vampires are hanging upside down, the actors could only shoot for about 4 mins at a time bc hanging upside for much longer than that can cause you to pass out so the scene is composed of several 4 min or less takes. the original idea for this movie was supposed to be about peter pan and the lost boys but as vampires hence the peter pan story of never growing old and always remaining a kid also hence the title the lost boys. corey haim (sam) and corey feldman (edgar frog) have co-stared in several movies together and were real life best friends.

I’m old enough to have seen this in the theater. I was completely obsessed with it! Had the soundtrack on vinyl lol. I still think it’s a classic between the actors, music, wardrobe and yes- the cringe dialogue. I even named my husky Cody because that was the real name of the dog that played Nanook. Fun times😊 If you like this you should check out Flatliners( the original). Same director and same amazing cinematography

"It was all going to be so perfect, Lucy. Just like one big, happy family. Your boys... and my boys." This movie is a Peter Pan allegory. Max is Peter Pan, Lucy is Wendy, Michael/Sam are Wendy's brothers, the Frog Brothers are Captain Hook/Mr. Smee, and Star is Tinkerbell or Tiger Lily. Once you pick up on the allegory, it becomes a totally different movie. There's been sequels and a remake, but they never understood this concept and just become stupid vampire movies. Fun Fact: This was Corey Haim and Corey Feldman's first film together, which marked the start of a popular "The Two Coreys" trend in which Haim and Feldman starred together in a number of teenage films. RIP Corey Haim. Fire Stunt Fact: In the iconic dinner scene, Alan Frog (Jamison Newlander) puts out candles with his fingers. Nobody told Newlander that he had to wet his fingers first, so he ended up getting burnt on the first take. In later takes, he dipped his hands in a basin of water before putting out the candles. Tourist Attraction Fact: Two men can be seen playing pinball the second time Sam visits the comic shop. The guy with the facial hair is Joe Ferrara II, who actually owned the comic shop Atlantis Fantasyworld. The comic shop has now moved location but is still owned by Joe. The new location of the Atlantis Fantasyworld comic book store, which was featured in the film still carries the original #1 issue of 'Vampires Everywhere' that Sam reads in the film. The comic was created only for the film, and its opening page is signed by all of the cast members from the movie. The owner Joe Ferrara II allows any shopper to hold it and take a photo with it free of charge.
