The fact I could watch this and understand every play, without understanding japanese and without having to look up massive blocks of card effect text is brilliant, it's this kinda way of playing that made me love the game, these cards are all pure nostalgia for me.

This was what made yugioh fun back then. The back and forth. The creativity. How you literally want to believe in the heart of the cards so that you could draw that one good card that would turn the tide of battle. Nowadays it's all about otk combos which were structured by konami instead of the players themselves. It's no longer about who's the better duelist. It's about who could buy the better cards.

It was never like that, at least in the competitive. Yugioh has always been about meta, even if back then the meta was things like Goat Control or Yata Lock, it's the reason we have a banlist, because players like to win, and the best way to win in Yugioh was and is to not let your opponent play. Of course, you may be talking about casual play, but that's No Man's Land so, ignore me.

Of course. It’s so boring, recycled and ridiculous now. These days, you’re pretty much watching your opponent play solitaire until he inflicts 20,000 points of damage. This is why I play exclusively with the older cards only. I refuse to play the new shit.

@creditguys13583 жыл бұрын
Synchro as a mechanic was fine, but the general power creep of card effects was the issue, which I feel came along with larger archetypes of cards, since an archetype typically wants every card to have an effect, which ultimatley led to small Series of cards later becoming Archetypes when we got Legacy Support cards for those series. Like remember when all we had for the now Dark Magician Archetype was Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Dark Sage and Dark Magician of Chaos, or when the game had a handfull of cards related to themselves like Ryu-Kishin, Ryu-Kishin Clown and Ryu-Kishin Powered? I wonder how long it'll take for Ryu-Kishin to become a full Archetype XD lol

There was also no card for purchase in my area. There were friends who enjoyed the manga like me though. Would love to see another one of these but with both players starting with random cards and draw random stuff. The ability to play out of bad hands and bad draws is what separates the good from the best in this format.
