Wonderful video, and the final product is amazing looking. However, you have convinced me that this kit is not one I am going to build. I have looked at this kit many times and did not know what the buildings actually were. I had assumed it was a gravel processing plant. Thank you for the time it took to put this video together.

Thanks for the comments. I did not know what they were either when I bought it. That was part of the attraction of this kit to me. It is like putting together a puzzle where you don't know the final picture.

Fantastic video. First Sheepscot build I've seen. I love those kits. I have about 7-8 of the kits plus boats. I've built the Cat's head pier so far. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments. I didn't think anyone would "love" those kits. They are hard to build, but they are interesting. I would love to see someone else take a make a build video of one of the kits.

This is a masterful build demo for you. You are a true artisan. Beyond my talents & demeanor. At 2 - 3 bills it is not worth my investing. However, ones thing I had noticed was your slicing and dicing the layout plans and templates. For the past 40+ years that is something I have avoided. Especially with Craftsman Kits I photocopy (now .PDF scan) ALL Layout, Template, & Instruction sheets. Then as needed, even without the kit materials, I can printout a new set to build for decades to come. Most scale lumber remains the same with each passing generation. Also, BLESS MY CHOP-IT. You are too kind! I have photocopied decals before but never plans. Anyway it won't matter. There is no way I am building this again!

That was some build. I’ve done the same with some of my kits as well till I was ready to take on the more difficult ones. You’ve given me some ideas for one of my builds as well. Really enjoy the videos.

Wow, that one took some wrastling with to get it donee. Amazing work, and thank you for showing the "mistakes" and kit shortcomings and how you got through them.

It’s crazy to me, how they engineered, invented, and created these intricate kits. I don’t know how the “old-timers” did it. But you certainly have a knack for them, and I think it’s fascinating to revisit these old kits. Not sure how they expected modelers to construct the parts with limited detailed instructions. Anyway, I enjoy your videos and I think you do a great job and I enjoy listening to your monologue during the build.

Excellent build. Another painting technique for me to file away. A long time ago I saw a video of a gentleman that made all of his structures out of wooden blocks. Unfortunatley I cannot remember his name. Someone else I enjoy watching is a channel called Chandwell. He uses cardboard and printed paper. Thanks for sharing as its always a joy to watch an artist at work.

I have this kit unbuilt and a few more from Sheepscot, they are for sure a box of sticks dumped into a bigger box of sticks. Watching you over the years, I know some kits dont go together well or have good instructions or even all the parts but this one is pretty bad for sure. All my kits are from Ebay so I hope the parts are all there. 🙄The strongest wood to wood bond to fix that separation from warping is liquid nail, believe it or not, but would require a few days to become completely solid, might be the solution for an extreme situation. You could shave off about 4 inches of the icing platform and that would give longer cars and locos more room to straighten up before meeting the platform. Maybe add another track to service the other building somewhere behind the milk tower would be a possibility. Another great video that turned out well. Cheers Rob

Challenging build. Nicely done May I suggest a repositioning of the buildings with the ice platform between the tracks taking up less space. The larger building could the be repositioned to the rear. Just a thought. I quite enjoy your videos. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. The ice platform is glued in place now, so no changing it. It is supposed to be adjacent to the ice building. Otherwise, you couldn't get the ice onto the platform. I still haven't decided what I am going to do with the loading platform yet. I am going to wait to see what other kits I end up building to finish out that siding area.

Great video. I have three of the Sheepscot kits and I think you have convinced that these are out of my league. From what I remember I think I only saw one of his kits ever built at his booth at Springfield. I believe it was his Quarry kit. All the comments I have ever heard about the Sheepscot kits were the parts didn't fit and the instructions were inadequate. I do like your honesty about kits you build.

Thanks. One of the things that motivates me on this channel is that most of us will never see another finished build of kits like this, let alone seeing how it was done (same with Master Creations kits, which I think are worse). I don't think I will take on another of his kits though. I am out of space as it is.

It's hard to blame the pieces don't fit whe you cut them yourself.

OK, I have been meaning to do this for a while and I have finally gotten around to it. You want some more answers to your missing pieces conundrum? I have some answers, maybe not all, however I have not 1 of these kits but 2 of them. I bought a 2nd one, both from Ebay, forgetting I had bought one a few years ago. I checked them both for the missing parts you had in yours. Short answer, between your kit and my 2 kits, none of the 3 were the same. Long answer, yes you are missing the long straight piece that goes under the loading dock shed. Also the office roof part that you didnt have was supposed to be inside of the bag marked W and yours is there but it appears to be cut wrong, its too short in length and is missing the sloped side that would tie it to the other roof line, so its not actually missing from the kit but was manufactured wrong, so you made zero mistakes, the kit was missing parts and had a bad part (cut wrong). Also 1 of my kits is missing that same long piece that goes under the loading dock shed. But wait, theres more. Also, the bag marked W differs between yours and also my two are not the same either. each bag is unique. Different color paper tag and contents listed on the tag are also different. on one of mine, the last item is marked out in black sharpie but is still in the sealed plastic. Almost seems like this was poorly packaged. Now I wonder if my other kits from Sheepscot are just as bad as ours are? Cheers Rob

Also, I inventoried all the scale sized lumber in "The Lime Company" kit. I counted each size, thinking I would just build my own version without the solid block components from the kit. The best I could come up with as far as price goes was to use Northeastern scale lumber at todays price 10/31/23 $4.09 per pack for all sizes. The cost came up to almost $200 in scale lumber. and this dont include stair kits or tubing and pipes etc, only the strip planks and dimensional wood. With the cost of materials these days, buying the kit will soon be cheaper than building it yourself. Also, looking at the lime company kit, I think its short a set of Brass etchings for the conveyors as it looks as if it requires 2 sets and has only one. Maybe the previous own used one or maybe it was just not put in the box. Luckily I have spares. Cheers Rob

Thanks for digging into your kits for this. I assume all of their kits are pretty bad, but happily I won't be finding out. Although the Lime Company looks interesting. It would be nice if someone else did a video of it.
