For anyone wondering, the reason there is snow left on the roof even though theres a furnace going, it's because it is properly insulated and the heat isn't released out of the roof. 😃

Wish I was younger and in better health so I could even attempt to do this. Shoot! I wish I had the land to consider having a cabin like this built for me. I lost my wife (9/2020) and son both fifteen years ago. This house has too many memories that hurt every day. A place like this would be just the right refuge to escape and forget the pain. Great, fantastic, awesome job. Good for you. Enjoy it!

After a while of binge-watching these videos, this is the first cabin that actually makes sense. It has reasonably sized and thick floor planks + wall logs and proper insulation between the logs. The only thing I would change is where the chimney is. You get a better draft when you make the chimney to go straight through the roof rather than horizontally through the wall.
@theaffiliate4208 Жыл бұрын
As a Ex stove installer, fireplace mason and chimney sweep, you should have no more then a 24" horizontal for good draw and this vertical isn't even tall enough for that. I see he doesn't want to endanger the roof seal. So out the front or back side of the shelter would be best.

Спасибо, что сохранили им жизнь I see you make no mistakes, a sign that you have done this before. I would have reworked many things which I didn't plan well. You must then be a skilled woods man. I am no expert, but I think it would be better and safer for the door to open inwards, and not outwards. 1) anything falling outside could block the door and lock you inside (heavy snowfall, tree falling, ...) 2) if you want to be able to make the door "lockable" to prevent undesired people from entering, for the moment anyone could unscrew the hinges from outside and get in. Nice work though :)
@LaurieTrammell Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I have watched tons of these videos and almost all of the doors open inwards. With the door opening outward, anyone with nefarious intentions could trap him inside and, for instance, set fire to the cabin and burn him to death.

I enjoyed seeing the strong, calculating, hard and soft side of you in this presentation. It was very engaging and thought provoking. The strength it took to drag the logs and lift in place, the cutting and sawing to make them fit perfectly and to finish off your work with a beautiful display of humanity, preparing a bird feeder for God's small creatures with a twig to celebrate the season. Your video showed an honorable and noble side of things you find endearing. Thank you from California.

@carmine redd They wouldn't put you in prison. The gov't would make you stop doing this or would fine you. If you were doing this on someone else's undeveloped land, then they could press enough charges to imprison you. The gov't basically leaves stuff like this alone unless private citizens make, as the saying goes, a federal case of it. Most often, if an individual doesn't own the land, then the state (not federal) government does. And you can't just do whatever the hell you want on someone else's property.

I have yet to be able to appreciate this video for all that I am appreciating the audio. I suffer from extreme sleep disorders, really extreme, but I have found myself, several times, relaxing and spacing out to all the harmonious sounds of you building a tiny house in the wilderness. I need to go back and start over so that I may actually take in the breadth of what you are achieving here. I have never lived anywhere but in a city - except for where I was born. I was nearly born at home, at the base of a mountain, in Montana. Perhaps the moose and bears and deer and all the wonders of nature situated themselves in my psyche before my parents moved the family to a number of different cities. I have always longed to be able to do what you are doing here in this video. Thank you for welcoming us into your world.

I've always been drawn to the woods as far back as I can remember my dad was the first to take me to the outdoors I used to make my own campsites in the woods by collecting fallen trees and branches, I'd go the length of over 3 chicken house's to find the right material and drag or carry it back I remember doing this kind of shelter before near my house but I didn't cut down trees I dug a square hole and collected fallen trees, made a frame, used a tarp, and built a simple shelter with a dug in fireplace complete with a small chimney

You did alot of hard work and I really complement you how you gave it your best. I have to say I seen alot of problems you didn't do to make your foundation post stronger. I was also concerned about the mold on the logs... honestly this isn't wise to use in such a damp area for health reason, no wooden dowels used to keep the logs in place, to me it would have been a huge help in its support level, and and other post support for the one you put in so its sturdy. I seen alot of things that needed support, nails etc. My husband and I had build a work shed from ground up 10 ft X 15 ft and it was all wood !! Let me say this, and please what I have shared is no insult to you !!! I like for others who are thinking about building!!!
