From interviews I've read and seen with the Duffer Brothers, they evidently had a rough outline for the entire story arc before the 1st Season was done.

All seasons have had a rough A-Z guideline, and the last is planned for with a clear endgoal, but this season is the only one that's gone off the grid a little due to the 'demic, and shows how brilliant they were in telling a complete narrative from multiple locations under the restrictions. I actually think it's made for more intricate and terrifying season overall. The isolation and uncertainty is so present throughout. 💖

Most creators/writers of a show all have a premise and storyline for every season before it even airs or gets approval for the pilot or renewal for a new season and most know how they want a series to end as well. It would be incredibly difficult for them to come up with a new concept/plot on a whim every season and in such a short period of time so it’s normally planned out from the beginning. Most shows are thought and scripted out several years before it ever airs on television

I was a teen at this time and the extra layer of 80s closet on Will in the van scene is real. Back then it wasn’t safe to come out to anyone because you couldn’t control it once it was said. If you got hit with that label that went public you were in immediate danger. Not to mention gay kids didn’t have a network of peers built in. There was no internet - there wasn’t even a pamphlet. You had to figure out what was going on all by yourself. No doubt Mike would be cool (especially as a character written in 2022). He would be retrofitted as having modern ally sensibilities - but in reality there was no way to tell your straight best friend you had feelings for them without getting some scary reaction.

@@mr.coleman5729 I think he's definitely gay and in love with Mike. I can tell by the way he looks at him. Like he wants to tell him that he loves him but can't because he knows Mike won't return his feelings but he'll also be freaked out when he tells him. That heartbreaking expression on his face says it all.

3:45 i’m surprised you didn’t notice the size difference between Vecna’s hands in earlier episodes. it’s pretty cool because at first i thought it was just a nod to Freddy Krueger’s glove. then i figured it made sense because of the way he puts his hand over people’s face/head to break them (mentally and physically) and it needing to cover the whole area. then, when he used his powers as 1, we found out he used his left hand to direct the power and it all kind of came together and made sense to me 😃
@palecorpse2 жыл бұрын
I've thought a lot about why vecna still looks so human. Then I was remembering that sometimes it's done for us, just to make something seem more human. I feel like these creators have added in a lot more details and symbols to unpack, compared to a lot of stories.

I think you guys started to bring up a good point I can extend. Brenner's love for Vecna is like the parents of a serial killer. The parents are shocked at the actions of their child, but at the end of the day, deep down, they still have love for the one they raised because that's what they had initially and it's not thrown away so easily.

Both of your reactions and comments here are really great. There is just so much to really like.... I was laughing here about the Michael Myres reactions and comments.... those were funny . The scene in the "War Zone" store was intense.... with Robin and what she saw and also with Jason's talk with Nancy. I felt really bad for Dr. Owens.... he was the one that was on Eleven's side no matter what it cost him and No one else wanted to.... that was sad . I feel that "Papa" in the end deserved what he got.... his last act of kindness was unlocking Eleven's collar . I am not convinced that all of his last words were true but Eleven got the closure she needed . In all this was a flawless episode for me and I am excited to see both of your reactions for episode "Piggyback" next . Thank you both very much for your channel .

@Mr. Coleman urse. I guessed Will was gay from season 2, actually. I think his brother was hinting at something else too about being 'different', and then also the conversations in season 1 about him being called slurs by his dad and people at school. It was referenced heavily that he was bullied for 'being gay' although not referenced that he was actually gay until Season 3 where he had the argument with Mike and Mike told him 'it's not my fault you don't like girls'. If this was a 'being left out' or a 'haven't bothered with romance' situation, Will wouldn't have been half as upset. If someone told me when I was closeted or struggling with my sexuality (I was presumed to be gay a lot before I even know, too, so I understand that part) something that was against my sexuality and I had a thing for them? I would have been just as upset as Will was. To be in a situation where you catch feelings for your best friend of the same gender is heartbreaking, and finding out that they are not open to the idea of you being gay is awful. I know Will has had a thing for Mike and I don't think Mike ever really talked about that argument with Will, even though he should have. Mike had seen Will being bullied and called gay and slurs in school all the time, Mike did stand up for him before, but in that moment when he told Will "it's not my fault you don't like girls" was really harsh and you can really feel the pain. Not just him being gay, but he is also lacking a lot of his childhood due to everything that happened to him, and his friends fail to realize that.

I get it for plot reasons, and I absolutely love this season, but if Vecna needs just 4 sacrifices, based on what we see when he goes seeking through people, there’s seemingly enough trauma that he should have been able to pick the 4th out of any of the random people we zoomed past in that scene. Unless it’s because Max is already marked or something, and I do get Vecna has personal reason to go after a friend of 11’s, because otherwise it feels like he could have just done all 4 unconnected from the main group.
@brianb-t4v Жыл бұрын

I don't believe 'Papa' (Brenner) really loves El or any of 'his' children, I side more with Henry in believing he only cares about possessing power he himself does not have. He stole children from their families, stripped them of their identities, and kept them captive. He might have convinced himself at some point later that he loved them and was doing what was best for them but I think that's more justification and delusion than anything

Am I the only one that took “you are my child” literally. Like Papa is really El’s bio dad. El’s aunt says her mom got pregnant when she was doing his MK ultra mind-control experiments. He was in the delivery room when she was born, stole her and turned her mother’s brain to mush.
@jeezrice73522 жыл бұрын
