Fun fact: "nightmare" comes from the Old English word nihtmare, which is derived from niht, meaning "night" and mara, meaning "evil spirit". Some stories have maras "riding" sleeping people in order to suffocate them or riding horses until they collapse from exhaustion. There are even tales of maras taking the form of horses so the movie went with that.

I like to think that Pitch was initially being genuine with Jack during their second meeting until his offer was rejected. He really saw Jack as the only person who could understand his situation and could become an ally to further his goals. Underneath all of that arrogance and sadistic cruelty is a sad, bitter man whose loneliness and desire to be believed in was warped into petty selfishness and jealous resentment.
@cucublueberry8078Ай бұрын
28:00 he's an even better villain when you consider his backstory. He was a general, fighting the very shadows he now commands. But they tricked and overwhelmed him, making him Pitch Black. But he's basically still in there, taken hostage. That makes it extra cruel when the shadows drag him under at the end of the movie 🥲

Also, the tidbit about the French mouse, that is a nod that in certain parts of Europe and basically pretty much most of Latinamerica, it's a mouse that collect the teeth and not a fairy, I have never heard of the tooth fairy until I visited USA for the first time, for me it was always a mouse collecting the teeth haha.

The Sandman heard of him believe it or not that dream you had where you could fly for the one about being a pop star that's the same man's work for sandy as he's known to his fellow Guardians. The Sandman is a mythical spiritual being originating from European folklore. Typically, a character in children's fables, he is said to put people to sleep and bring good dreams by sprinkling magic sand into people's eyes at night. The grit in people's eyes when they wake from sleep is supposedly the Sandman's doing.

An underrated movie for sure after launch. I believe it had been released alongside other box office hits that stole the show unfortunately. The way they convey the true meanings of the holidays while keeping it fun and cinematic is a great feat. I think they do it better here than in the grinch remake with jim carrey honestly. That one has a bit too much of a hollywood twist and it ruins the original lesson to be learned from the film. They also do not shy away from making the villain seem like a bad guy. He has such cold lines which is ironic considering youd expect such from a winter themed character like Santa or Jack Frost. This is why dreamworks villains trump Modern disney villains. Look what they are doing to my man scar from the lion king. Enough of the whining tho. Tis christmas season. Is a time for joy and cheer. I wish you both a happy holiday.
