On the last project I did, I tried this 'TIP' it rendered my project to almost unusable. I DON"T recommend doing this if you are doing anything longer than a few seconds of animation. My whole AE was slowed down so much that a simple thing that takes like 5 minutes to animate took me approximately half an hour.
@FineBoi11 ай бұрын
im also guessing this happens cuz it creates so many expressions on the character comp that AE can't handle it. P.S. Working on a i9 9900k | rtx2080 | 96GB RAM so the pc isn't exactly a low end machine or something like that

For better performance you should extract using expressions. If you extract using essential properties will slow down your system. Using expressions though, you give up the reusablility of the original comp.

@@TheKeyframeAcademy same as regular duik rig? since those are slow enough by default... 😬

Thank you for the tip! How to put controllers back into the original comp though? (While preserving the animations you did in the other comp)
@TheKeyframeAcademy Жыл бұрын
It doesn't work like that. You're not actually moving the controllers out of the comp when you extract, you're using master properties to make duplicate controllers that are linked to the controllers inside the composition. In fact, because it uses master properties, you can make infinite variations of your animation with just the one composition.

@@TheKeyframeAcademy Thank you for your reply! I asked that because after I extracted and did the animation, I had this issue where I wanted to parent a card to the hand of the character, and I couldn't because all the artwork is inside the other comp, and this comp only has the controllers, so I couldn't parent the card to the hand movement because I was using the FK (the one that has Upper, Mid, Goal controls in duik) and they are controlled by rotation not position, so I couldn't parent to them. The only way I thought this would work is if I were to parent the card to the hand artwork that's being moved by these controllers, but unfortunately it's inside the other comp, so I'm currently stuck.
@TheKeyframeAcademy Жыл бұрын
@@m.a8735 Are you sure you need to parent to the hand? Could you get away with the same thing if you just parent to the wrist controller?
@m.a8735 Жыл бұрын
@@TheKeyframeAcademy Unfortunately no, I tried it but it doesn't work, since the I'm not using the automatic kinematics (I'm sorry I get confused between IK and FK) with the automatic you could move controller to control the hands and then the controller would move with it (then I could definitely parent the card to it) but with manual rotation controls the controller stays at the same position while the arms rotate, so parenting to it becomes useless. Thank you for your reply once again!

@@m.a8735 Okay, I understand what you're saying. So you can use the parent across comps to parent to the hand layer inside the comp. See if that works!

@TheKeyframeAcademy Жыл бұрын
@@robertstern9381 Not from my experience. Most of the time I find Limber to be much snappier than DUIK in general, but performance will always take a hit when extracting controllers using master properties.
