Maeterlinck borrowed the names of Bluebeard's wives from earlier plays of his, most notably "Mélisande" (of "Pelléas" fame). When Dukas started to compose the opera, his close friend Debussy was finishing his own. If you listen closely, you can hear Dukas quoting almost verbatim the first (15:01) and the third (15:10) bar from the beginning of the third scene of the first act of "Pelléas et Mélisande", precisely when Mélisande is asked after her name. Neat!
