As a Kentucky fan, this win wasn’t so much about beating Duke (though, that is nice), but was about the ceiling of Mark Pope. The talent disparity is shocking and I can’t wait to see what Pope can do with the horses that are coming in next year.

Interesting video just came out on the Kentucky side of things that shows Mark Pope call the Cooper Flag spin in the last few possessions. Really cool to hear the coach call out the play for his defender to make in the timeout before!

Watched this a second time today to get a new perspective. The one thing that caught my eye was because of you. You kept going on about going after 4 and 8, I get it, even though their defense lagged they made game winning plays. But it made me notice something about Flagg. Yes his points and rebounds were great. That being said he was also the biggest reason for Duke losing. He took tough shots, made numerous defensive errors, tried to be the only offense, and made really bad turnovers. He kind of cancelled himself out. That last play you said he lost it but would have passed for a 3. I wonder if you have seen the video of Pope telling them exactly what Flagg was going to do and reach with 2 hands and the ball is yours. If you watch the replay Oweh is damn near giddy hopping back and forth because he knows what Flagg is going to go before he does.
@randybrumfieldjr.5669Ай бұрын
About your 3rd assist. That's definitely an assist in the NBA. In college, unless rules have changed, the second Flagg took the one dribble it's gone. If he turns and shoots you get your third assist but it was cut the minute the ball hit the ground. Something else to blame Flagg for.

I'm a UK fan. This was an early season game that could have gone either way, of course. I am glad to learn that my Wildcats can play with anyone in the country - because if you can play with Duke you can play with anyone. I think Duke has the bigger upside with some crazy good, young talent. I think UK will be a tough out in March. It's easy to overreact to the win for Cats fans and could be easy to overreact to the loss for Duke fans, although I haven't seen that as much. UK needed this win with the coaching/team change and the struggles of the last 5-6 seasons. That has fueled some of the online chatter. I still have Duke as the favorite to win it all.

Kentucky didn’t lead until the final two minutes. Stop acting like they dominated. They might win that game 50% of the time but they won a close game they didn’t even lead until late. Stop it.

@@chadphelps5809 You know who else didnt lead till the final two minutes? Kentucky in 1998 versus Duke NCAAT South Region Final. Pretty sure the national championship still count just as much as if Kentucky wouldve lead the majority of the game!

The thing about Jimmy's and Joe's is they all come with their own heart. Kentucky's Jimmy's and Joe's may not be quite as talented as Duke's this year, but they've bought in to the "Kentucky on your chest" message that Pope is preaching.

It was a great game. Tied 72-72 with 10 seconds to go. Both teams had moments of brilliance as well as lapses and mistakes they can grow from. Cant ask more than that. Kentucky appears to be way better than 19th in the country.

Didn't realize you were a Duke fan the other day. I only saw 2 issues as a Kentucky fan. One was having a bench you can rely on. We heard all week you guys were 13 deep but when it mattered the coach never went past 7-8 players. Second, every Kentucky team for 15 years was built like this Duke team. This team looked like 3 freshman and their gang. I thought it was odd that Duke went iso 3 minutes into the game when Kentucky got their 4-5 point lead. It feels like if you can shut down one of the three Duke will struggle. In this one you had one shoot 5-20, another start cramping only playing 20 minutes, and the other freshman lost his legs and made mistakes trying to will a victory. Sorry I was long winded, good luck with Arizona, Kansas,and Auburn.

Kentucky outscored duke 40-26 in the second half. Kentucky could have easily won by fifteen. With those young teams demanding on freshmen, take one or two of them out and the game's over. You can't win demanding on freshmen anymore. You will eventually have a more experienced team come along and knock them out. Duke reared back and gave kentucky their biggest haymaker, kill shot and kentucky got right back up and that shook duke, they lost all of their energy, because I didn't expect that these young players never been in a game like this before. Duke is a good team, but everybody has to be playing. Duke kept kentucky's best player to 1 point

You made a ton of excuses for why UK won. You act like UK hit every shot and duke missed every shot. Truth is, UK missed a lot of shots, missed a lot of free throws, some of them were the front end of a one and one. Koby Brea shot an airball, how often do you think that happens? UK only shot 23 threes, they want to shoot 40. Amari Williams has very unskilled post moves right now, but come February, that wont be the case. UK has just as much to work on as duke does. Mark Pope coached UK to a win, he made adjustments and changed the style of play. You look like a chapoed fan with this video. Duke didn't lose the game, they played very well, UK took it. This isn't November for just Duke, it's November for everyone else too.

Watching this as a Duke fan was tough. It was tough seeing so much iso at the end and the fact the bench shrunk a ton, the missed shots also was frustrating. I don't think Caleb Foster will go 0-5 from 3 the rest of the year, same with Kon's abysmal shooting. Weirdly enough I'm happy they lost this tough game, I truly believe it will prompt the coaching staff to be better and be great motivation for the players to work harder in practice and pay more attention to detail on the floor. Great game, just sucks Duke was on the losing side of this one. Best to learn and grow from it, let the losses be the steps up the ladder of greatness.
