There is a design document for DNF written in like 98 you can find on a site called the DNF museum (the best site IMO for all DNF related media). In the design doc they describe a weapon that is EXACTLY the bowling bomb in Ion Furry. Edit: Here it is, written June 1998 under the section for ideas for new weapons "Bowling Ball Bomb! -- This will be just as innovative as the Laser Trip Mine and the Pipe Bomb. It's a round bomb that Duke rolls like a bowling ball at enemies. It explodes when it hits a foe, a wall or falls a certain hieght off a ledge. It also explodes if it's within a proximity of a foe. Duke will be able to rool it down ramps, stairs, off not-so-high ledges, etc. When it explodes and takes out a foe Duke can have plenty of witty things to say, like "Strike!" (One-handed weapon, but can only use one at a time.)"

It took a while but we finally got a leaked build. With the level editor, mesh editor etc. And with the entire source code for everything.

Rocket Launcher has a nuke mode. Flamethrower has a flamewall attack. Lo Wang & HUNT Team would be proud.

Sound is usually one of the things to come in last. One reason why when the 2001 build leaked the sound for the hollow points was the typical stock "silenced pistol" sound.
