As part of the Duke Chapel Reads series, Chapel Dean Luke A. Powery hosted this online discussion of the book "Jesus and the Disinherited" with Dr. Walter Earl Fluker, a scholar of the book's author, Howard Thurman. Professor Fluker is the editor of the multi-volume series The Papers of Howard Washington Thurman and is Dean's Professor of Spirituality, Ethics, and Leadership at Emory University's Candler School of Theology.

"... Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.." The first time I heard Dr King say this I was already covered in goose bumps. Dr Thurman has been with me since. He and Dr King, Lincoln and Gandhi. So many more. Reminding me of our shared strength and the unfinished work yet to do. When we learn to organize we WILL know peace. Thank you 🕉️☮️☯️💟
