Love how the General Lee does a tire smoking 180 in the middle of the road and the city folk are unphased. Just another day in Hazzard Country!

I noticed two things when I watched this episode. one, Luke reaches over and turns the car on, two, Luke had the general moving when he was pushing before Bo came over to help, Luke is pretty strong.

I saw this episode when it first aired, and I think I was 4 or 5 years old. Like every other little boy, Bo, Duke and the General Lee were my heroes at the time, and I was scared out of my skin watching them stuck on those tracks with the train coming, and the benefit of those of you seeing this for the first time here on KZbin, you don't have to wait for a commercial break.

That entry into the General and tire roasting spin was awesome! Gotta love it. Nice how they had liquid on the pavement in just the right location haha... :)

@@BarryJowers Yeah they ended up having a coordinated procedure where Bo would start the car and Luke would shift into drive. They often talked about it in interviews. Pretty cool! They made it look easy. Yee Haw

You can tell this is one of the later episodes when the producers couldn't be bothered making the General Lee scenes look even slightly realistic. Of course the little kids who made up most of the audience didn't notice at the time (myself included lol).

There's a pile of make believe on this scene. The crossing lights are obviously quick, slapped together fakes. The train itself is a model train. (really obvious when seeing the train moving away) And a patchwork of in-field and green screen movie magic. But that's nothing new. The General's engine sounds have always been dubbed in throughout the series.

Hell Cooter would have had him looking like a brand new car in the next scene
@Ben7seven74 жыл бұрын
What’s silly and a bit unbelievable about this scene is he should choose to stop the car on the railroad track. Before that point it was more than obvious that the engine was struggling and he had ample warning to stop it before the tracks especially given a train was coming. Watching this you just have to have suspension of disbelief and or be a kid growing up watching where you think nothing of it.

What is it with cars and train tracks? Like really, there is so many TV shows, so many movies, so many series based on real lie events (Rescue 911 comes to mind) where a vehicle just stops when trying to cross train tracks. Like or real, what the heck is the deal with train tracks?
@A_Little_Bit_Of_Everything062 жыл бұрын
I think it might be because the rails for the train are usually higher than the ground and if your car is already dying sometimes little bumps like that could be the end, like theirs if I remember correctly the engine was hit or shot so, the rails probably killed the engine (That's my best guess lmao)
