Sometimes a lock gives you a real challenge... sometimes not so much 🤷♂️ I think I’ll be sticking to an Abus Diskus 😁
@WineScrounger4 жыл бұрын
Abus Discus locks are an excellent design, as shown by its innumerable imitators. Their main thing is that they’re all round shaped and really hard to grip. This one, not such a great imitation.

Do you know where I could get one of these locks? Trying to build up my padlock collection. Only have 5 that aren't practice locks and can open them all fairly easily now so definitely needing new locks.

Another great video. I REALLY like your explanations of how things work. You point out and explain things most others don't consider, like how and why that pin 5 spool could feel and act like a serated.

I had a series of locks, four or six, that were just baffling me with the SPP. Introduced Mr. Bogota, and they rolled over in seconds. I'd always considered raking as not "actual picking", like it was somehow cheating. Yup, i was wrong. Thank you for a clear explanation on the why of the Bogota success in this instance. Clears up why those locks gave such grief, and then surrendered!

Raking can be a real skill... I wish I was better at it!

I totally agree with the extreme bitting, sometimes it can work in your favour when picking. Yet on other occasions..... Making light work of a Discus padlock.

Go to love a bogata!

You did pick that pretty fast! Well done. Pretty neat bout the bogota, I wouldn't have though it would work too well on a good bitting but I see what you mean when you held the key up to it...

I honestly seem to have the hardest time with the trashy locks that don’t have good tolerances and are made from whatever bits of scrap metal the factory had lying around that day. Glad to see you don’t have that problem!!

I have some from Poundland, so badly made you can't pick them :)

Awesome work. Bogota bitted key. Gotta keep that in mind when making challenge locks.

Yes, good to mix it up!
@SilktheAbsent14 жыл бұрын
Looking at that bitting, I'm almost wondering if you have a mix of zero lift pins (or nearly so, like if anything in the keyway will set them), and drivers being too short in 1 through 4, so that all you have to set is pin 5.
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
Very possible!

Great video Ash my friend very true though when you have extreme bitting it becomes instead of a 5 pin lock on a 3-pin or 2 pin👊👍🤟😎🇬🇧😊

Can you dismantle a lock like that without destroying it?

If you are a welder, I'm sure you could get it back together. (No)

I have a Aldi disk lock like that one, its one of the hardest locks i have (not that i have much in the way of quality) i may have to find “the knack”
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
Some of those locks are made so badly the poor manufacturing makes them inconsistent and hard picks

I posted a short vid to one of the lockpicking FB groups the other day of the same style Master lock, maybe 2 seconds with a Half Ball simple push in pull out, picked, it was quite disappointing :). That aside, another great clip Lock Noob :) (if we can really call ya that now ;) )

Q: do you ever think of changing the Noob part of your handle, or, like, say, Sonic Youth (in their 50's and 60's), will you just ride it? :)
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
I think the fact I do t m ow what the Sonic Youth changed their name to says it all really! Guess I’m gonna have to stick with it though at one point I considered LN Lockpicking
