Yeah, most tourists don't usually go there even though it is one of the places in Philippines that has the most variety of stuff with the various beautiful sceneries along with the many hiking areas or driving along the coasts or the mountains, a variety of restaurants from many parts of the world that's for just a small city, many water falls, lakes, and, of course, one of the top diving destinations in the world. BUT, even though not many tourists go there, that place has the highest number of expats in ratio to it's local population in Philippines, and I'm quite sure it's home to the most number of retired expat vloggers in the world.

Visit Siquijor Island, a nearby island of Dumaguete. We welcome nice tourists like you. You can try Free Diving and swim with the Barracudas. Enjoy a day trip driving around the island, and explore the waterfalls and beaches. Before eating the Halo-Halo, you should first blend it from the bottom up because if you don't mix all of them together, the flavor will be lost. Because of this, it is known as Halo-Halo in the local language, which translates to "Mix-Mix" and requires the mixing of all ingredients.

Hi Abby and Gaza. Wondering can you help we are going to el Nido and come across a bit of a problem with luggage allowance ? Only allowing us 10 LV of luggage on air swift have to come across this problem on any of the islands? We were in Coron, Boracay Bohol and Cebu last year and never had this problem . I don’t think I can manage 10 kilo of luggage for a month . Even backpacking would have more wieght in it. Any help would be appreciated. Enjoying watching your travels. X

We didn’t go to bantayan but I would say siquijor had LOADS of nice food, fun activities etc!

Yeah, Dumaguete is not really a backpackers destination, it's more of a retirement city for foreigners unless you go further south to Dauin or Zamboanguita to scuba dive.

That’s just part of the culture, everyone haggled I’n the Philippines. As foreigners you already pay an inflated cost and then they inflate it again as they expect you to haggle. So no hard feelings on it ☺️

To be aware of Filipino culture you are really inappropriate wearing athletic gym shorts in public that is and oh my God the locals are looking at you.. Similar Visiting a temple in Thailand you don't go with shorts you cover up ..🙏🙏
