Thanks. Was messing around with the app trying to enter information while not being connected. Thought it might need the serial number etc before connecting on Bluetooth

Current readout is only the run winding current of motor. Does not read start (auxiliary) winding current. This makes it look like Easystart reduces run current, which it does not. Easystart internal relay bypasses Easystart during normal run period. It does reduce startup surge current which is the intended purpose. Start(auxiliary) winding current is about 90 degs out of phase with run winding current, due to run capacitor, so on my 4 ton system with run winding of 10A @240vac and start(auxiliary) winding of 7A@ 300vac, the common current to compressor is sqrt (10^2 + 7^2) = 12.2A from 240vac. Easystart shows the 10A run winding current only, which is about 20% lower than actual total compressor current. This also applies to what is shown of startup surge current. Startup surge is higher than shown. There is more error in the optimum 90 deg phase shift for startup surge due to value of Easystart internal start capacitor that has a wide tolerance and often too large mfd value for given compressor motor capacity. Selecting start capacitor based on BTU's of unit is not accurate due to other factors like size of condenser. Larger condenser unit has smaller rated compressor for the system BTU rating.

In other words....what exactly are you saying??? Do you think these soft starts add value or not?

So in layman's term, you just said what?

@@aholmes6612 I'm a layman. lol I just installed Easy Start so that I can run my 20 year old 4 Ton AC on a 13,000 watt generator if necessary. Easy start did reduce my inrush (start up) Amps from a whopping 127 to 27, according to my Klein Amp Clamp! Run amps for "compressor only", stayed the same at 14 Amps, again, according to my Klein Amp Clamp. However, The Easy start App "Status" shows "Live Current" as 11 to 11.5 amps. Unclear if this "Live Current" is suppose to be compressor only or total Amps of compressor and Fan. For, I'm assuming the reasons the original poster stated above, I believe the Easy Start is showing lower running AMPs than actual running AMPs as read by my AMP Clamp. It's odd though, that the App is showing 30.4 as Inrush and my Amp Clamp has always showed around 27 (after Easy Start.) Anyway, my actual total Running Amp draw from Compressor and Fan should actually be around 16 AMPs. That would be 14 from the Comp plus 2 from the Fan. Which is right? IDK, but I like the product, for the intended purpose of lowering Inrush AMPs significantly. If your compressor kicks out but the condenser fan is still running, you can easily confirm this by checking the APP. Otherwise sometimes it can sound like the condenser is running normally when the compressor could be in thermal shut down. Plus, I like the delay in starting the Fan, then starting the compressor. This is the way all condensers should be designed. Lights don't flicker near as much when the AC kicks on!

What do they mean by turn the thermostat to a lowest setting, do you mean you do not want to have the compressor running or kick in, in other words keep the heat very low and the AC very high so the compressor does not kick in, am I correct?
@theresatrickforthat2 ай бұрын
The soft start gets power only while the A/C unit is on, and you really don’t want it to turn off in the middle of a firmware update. So with your thermostat in cooling mode, turn it down to temperature to force the A/C unit to stay running and not run the risk of it shutting off on its own due to satisfying the thermostat set point while you’re updating the firmware. Thanks for watching!

@@theresatrickforthat can I have the unit running in heat mode since it's getting chilly or must it be cooling? Thanks for the info!!!
