NICE!!! I remember when I installed mine and was BLOWN AWAY. That grin every time the AC Starts!!!💥👌

Thanks! Yeah it's crazy that it can reduce the surge that much! Makes you wonder why they're not installed by default...

I put one of these on my 3 ton Trane with my 2 X 6000XP’s. Works great! I had a little issue with the installation in that I had a hard start on my AC and did not completely disconnect it the first time I tried to “learn” and it through a fault. I ended up using MicroAir’s tech support to troubleshoot and they were GREAT! Highly recommend1

You could make it a lot easier on the air-conditioning contractor if you had installed it like the power company did the energy cut off. You should’ve installed it on the grille. All you have to do is make sure there is clearance between the end of your drill point screw and the coil. There’s usually plenty of room. Good job.

I can say from experience that it has performed flawless for me! I bought the wrong size on accident one year ago and didn’t realize it until 3 months later (I bought the one sized down from yours)and it starts my 3 ton unit no problems!! and according to my easy start app I have had over 5k. Successful starts! I live in Florida and we run the AC 11 months out of the year! Haha😂 great product!!

I have two 18000 BTU mini split heat pumps running on a Growatt 5K inverter. The heat pumps in effect have soft start integrated in them selves so soft start isn’t needed. I don’t think I’ll ever use a conventional 3 ton since these are so economical.

I have been on the fence about buying one because of the cost. I am running 2 Eg4 6500Ex inverters. They should be able to start my 2.5T hvac, but I have not tested it yet. After your video, I went ahead and place an order for the easy start.
@AdamDeLayDIY6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! The 6500 “might” have been able to start it but why add unnecessary strain on the inverter if you don’t have to. Plus you can still know that the soft start will reduce the startup surge for anything you might switch to in the future.
@savedforever77026 ай бұрын
I also have two 6500's with a 2.5 ton. It starts mine absolutely no problem, but the problem is is if your water heater is kicking on or you got the stove top plus well pump going it will easily be lights out so a soft start was a must for me. Great video Mr Adam

I'm planning to install one of these in a few weeks now that I have enough sun that feels wasted. I have been debating if I should just get a mini split or a soft start for my cental. I'm going to go with a soft start first because its cheaper and even if I want to stop using my central eventually it would be a waste to not be able to use it.

Hot in the sun? You haven't experienced 89°F with heat index of 110°F peaking to 116°F at 0800 hours in West Central Florida. It's going almost 4 years running the EasyStart on my 2.5 ton heat pump and it took my locked rotor from 56 to 20 amps. Under normal operating conditions, the SCPT never comes to play. You hear the contactor click on and the outside fan starts. About 3 seconds later, the compress starts to ramp up. Running the A/C on a 7,600 running watt inverter generator doesn't know that its there when it starts and the same with my LF inverters. The SCPT aka Short-Cycle Protection Timer kicks in if grid power drops in and out along with your delay on your digital thermostat. It also serves as fault delay if your run capacitor is starting to go bad. When your run capacitor starts to go bad, the run current on your compressor starts to climb up. The unit has quite a bit of smarts to prevent your compressor from overheating causing the internal thermal overload to cycle. When the thermal overload starts to cycle, things really get bad like you can fry an egg on the compressor (before had a soft start). The EasyStart unit will head that off at the pass. What's really interesting is that the soft start unit will start your compressor even if your run capacitor is faulty. During the learning process it kinda knows the range of the live current should be at (RLA) and shut things down before things get bad.

Unfortunately I have experienced that Florida heat and I hated every minute of it…😁. I’m one of those weird people that would rather have snow than excessive heat… Thanks for all the tips and info on the EasyStart! I had wondered if that the SCPT was just a built in compressor protection feature.

Are you talking about with a 120v fan or a smaller DC fan (12-48v)?

yeah, 70 and above and a heat sissy too. We have DIY Mr Cool 120v Mini Splits and I run three of them off of a single EG4 6000 XP and will run all day at around 200-700 watts each and they modulate the power they need.

@@AdamDeLayDIY I was sure that they even do a DC version, so maybe check them out and see. Not sure if you want to wire it that way. I'm happy to stick with the 120v because I get the most flexibility, but if I had a small garden shed, it would be a great idea. or totally off-grid.

The amperage on the EasyStart app are significantly higher than the inrush from my amp meter. While both might be wrong, I think my amp meter is more accurate.
@AdamDeLayDIY6 ай бұрын
It depends on the meter, but it provably is more accurate as it’s specifically designed to take accurate measurements.
