I have not! I thought about adding some high speed SSDs, but honestly haven't had any issues with the machine as it stands.

thanks for the video, I just want to access it through my pc locally, but at first I think it needs to have access to internet to download the os and stuffs is it possible to prevent it from accessing the Internet before start putting and storing my data there?

I'm not 100% sure. When you plug the ethernet cable into your switch it will be on your local network. I guess you could download the OS updates and then disconnect your modem before turning on the NAS. I haven't done this so I'm not positive...

How responsive is this NAS? Did you experience any performance issues? I have a DS220j and it is so incredibly frustratingly slow with everything, it just freezes up for long periods sometimes :/

I guess it depends on what you’re doing! It’s been working well for managing our data and running a PleX server. I haven’t run VMs on it

@@redbeardengineered I want to upgrade from Video Station to Jellyfin and maybe run some other Docker Containers. Simply installing a Docker Container for example knocked out my system for over an hour, I guess this NAS would not have such problems!

Yes; it would probably be best to do your first sync with a cable for speed... but you could use a mesh node next to the machine. Then wire directly into the DECO mesh node. amzn.to/3Q4S1ko

i prefer to DIY my file server rather than use synology. on my server which i run AI, the 1U case has 4 hot swap bays and the board has 4 sata slots too. I then use proxmox as the host instead. The only good thing about synology is their SHR as mdadm is one monster itself. it is an aliexpress board with a mobile CPU rather than the terrible intel atoms synology come with at the price point.
