Unfortunately he did, the officers proved how quickly they are willing to lie to get answers. Anyway the auditor wasn't there to get a reaction; it's exactly the opposite : leave him alone! Inquire if you must, then go away. "There are people who want to harm us". With a camera? The only damage done with a camera is you embarrassing yourself for generations to come.

@mijimonmaster8 ай бұрын
@@tjblues01 For sure, but it's a generalized statement for any questions barked out by cops. His attitude is because cops seem to think they have ultimate authority to demand answers to any questions they have. This was actually not a bad one, but the female cop could've just stayed in her car, saw that nothing illegal was going on, and went on her way. Or, at most, observed the auditor for a period of time to see if any RAS of a crime was present. You know, as any good cop would do, without harassing a member of the public doing nothing unlawful.

As a retired New Jersey State Trooper with 26 years of experience, I believe law enforcement officers have a duty to thoroughly understand the law, follow proper procedures, and conduct comprehensive investigations. The officer’s actions in this case reveal a troubling lack of understanding in all these areas. Instead of gathering facts or considering the context of the situation, the officer jumped to enforcement without assessing whether any actual harm or legal violation occurred. This ill-informed approach undermines public trust in law enforcement’s ability to make fair and informed decisions.

Duress is a third degree assault. Anytime someone makes you fear for their safety, that's Duress. When a police officer approaches you with a badge, a uniform, a police car and a gun and starts interrogating you with no crime to speak of, they are breaking the law by assaulting you. Auditors should inform police that unless they are investigating an actual crime, they are assaulting you and stick to it. Don't let them change the subject. "We got a call." should be handled with, "There were no telephones in 1776, so what are you talking about? Your investigation starts with determining that there's a crime, right? Did the caller describe a crime being committed and if so, what crime are they accusing me of? Murder? Assault? Robbery? What crime Women With A Gun?" And did you know that when you give cops notice that you intend to sue and they continue to interrogate you, that that's Intimidating a Witness? My attorney told me that. He said it's the best way to shut a cop down and protect yourself. "You have illegally and unnecessarily put me under Duress, a third degree assault. Consider this Notice Of Intent To Sue. Anything you say to me from this point on, my Attorney's will consider Witness Intimidation. I want my Attorney's present during all questioning and I'm requesting a supervisor." When they open their mouth again, yell out "Witness Intimidation!!!! and keep yelling every time they do.

"we had a call for service," isn't a magical excuse for suspending someone's civil rights. If someone calls to report someone doing something that's not a crime, that's their problem. They should be told that filming isn't illegal and no one's time has to be wasted. If it's a generic suspicious- person call, then the cops can show up and observe to make sure no one is out committing crimes. Someone being paranoid, however, doesn't mean that the person walking and committing no crimes can suddenly be detained and forced to give a bunch of information. This is just silly. They need to leave people alone when they're not actively breaking laws.
