From what I can tell by slowing it down, after being shined Ginger accidentally jumped but was still in his injury state (I don't think that's the right word but whatever) which meant that by jumping into the blastzone he died which wouldn't have happened if jumped into the blastzone without being in damage state. I'm not sure why that works tho. I didn't realize he could still jump while in damage state
