Everybody in the comments screaming injury, but dudes back was straight. Hips were going back and knees were slightly bending. Are y'all talking about his scapula? Rolling the scapula forward for this exercise doesn't cause injury.

Youre right about all of that. What did make me cringe was the snapping extension of his knees like that. To me, that is cause of concern for injury.

That's a back breaking move if you keep your shoulders forward like that and don't push your hips through. Also if the bar doesn't go below your knees it's called a romanian deadlift

scapular position doesnt really matter. pelvis position(and therefore low back position) is way more important. if the pelvis anteriorly tilted youre good.

False. Rolling your shoulders forward won't cause an injury.

@@penumbrium scapular position does matter because it helps stabilize the back, which helps form overall. The whole posterior chain is involved

@@tayashley3539 thorasic rounding doesnt really matter in terms of injury. lumbar rounding is riskier. for some people, retracting the scapula helps with form overall, for me, i can keep my lumbar (and thorasic) fixed while my scaps are neutral or relaxed. it just makes the lockout harder if youre pulling heavier weight.

It does go below the knee. Still, it is a romanian deadlift. Because he stops under the knee. Deadlifts start from the ground and end at the ground.

I’m new to this, but were he using a barbell with 45s on there, wouldn’t he be going the same depth? Point. So isn’t he going deep enough?

Nailed it homie. A barbell in hand going all the way to the floor would have me in essentially identical positioning to what you see here.

@@aleximing9504 "push with his knees" is the most nightmarish cue I've ever heard 😂 you asking to blow out a knee? Haha what does that even mean? Also, the part about "bring his butt back", my butt most certainly goes back. Quite a ways too. You can tell mainly because my knees don't move forward. Oh and the part where my butt moves backwards.. haha 9 months later, but thanks for the laughs!

Keep your back straight... Either do a deadlift or do a Romanian deadlift... don’t combine the two you’re gonna hurt yourself

Barely bending his knees, and I just watched the difference between a deadlift and a RDL, (meaning I JUST learned the difference), and I know little about exercise, looks RDL-ish to me...🤷🏾‍♀️
