Most 4B's sweet spot is between 90 and 100, post 100kmph the wind resistance goes through the roof, I love drag racing, some cars need up to 1000hp extra alone, just to overcome wind resistance to make the winning passes.

Was great to say hello to you at the show. NSW also has the 100km/h tow limit. With a LC200 over 100 becomes way to expensive when towing a full height but just 2.5T van. Now you’ve got a van you’ll discover the new found patience you now have to sit behind a B double and save those precious L/100km.

Mhhh…. Poptop caravan vs. full size caravan single axle 2.5 tons loaded towing with my LC200. Staying all time on the highway limits 100 and 110 and 120km/h on a 6000 km trip lats 3 month gave me an average 18.8ltr. Per 100km. Staying behind a double B is not very much an option. But that is my choice.. and yes, No driving at nite… Cheers

In New South Wales, if your rig (vehicle and caravan) weigh up to 4.5t combined, it’s the prevailing speed limit - up to 110km/h, where applicable. If the rig weighs more than 4.5t, the limit is 100km/h.

Isolate. We’ve been looking at these style of caravans because we don’t like the idea of a huge wind sail dragging behind us and it fits well in the Prado’s tow limit, so it was good to see one in action.

I've driven across the Nullarbor many times and from Brisbane to Perth a few times, I know the exact feeling of "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine... and I've stopped and now I'm asleep". I've done some wildlife photography out near that airfield, such a nice area for that sort of thing.

That cliff edge in NSW was an insane place to isolate yourself for the night Harry. Thanks for the video - we pick up our H16 next month and it was so good that these three little issues you had were so straightforward, given the shakedown trip you did. I'm guessing after you tightened down the bolts on the battery box, you fixed the dust issue there? Will you replace the water tank fittings with brass ones? Great video mate 👍🏻

We did a similar thing picking up a Hybrid Camper in Adelaide and going on a 6,000km return shakedown trip to Meekatharra in WA. The one issue we were able to isolate was the lack of wind protection for the gas cooktop. We stuck to the limit for each state and got around 15 to 16 litres per 100km in our 130kw Prado.

Thanks for the initial run down on the van. Looks like a very nice van. Compared our VX Prado we picked up less than a year ago, you hardly had any dust coming in. Our rear door leaks really badly and I think the vent box at the rear left may be leaking as well as the jack compartment fills up with dust badly. Think I will have to see Toyota. How does your Prado seal, especially at the back?

We find 90 is a good speed for our 3.5t van behind our Cruiser. Site really stable and gives us between 17 to 20 l/100k depending on hills. Wind resistance changes by the inverse square of the speed change hence the extra fuel use. We love to isolate ourselves free camping 3👍👍
