The movie captured the feeling these two had perfectly.
I have to say that I missed seeing Johnny in the role, but I was still happy that we got to see their true emotions toward one another.
Hopefully in FB4 we get to see the epic fight!

(When the blood pact shattered) After losing him for ever he understands how big their love was and how much it hurts to definitely lose it.

Same! I love Johnny in any other movie and genre but Mads is all I imagined Grindelwald to be. For me he always felt like a refined, power-hungry individual but not in a demented way. In my opinion Mads portrayed him beautifully.

I feel like Mads’ Grindelwald is more realistic to Johnny’s with the young and older actors characteristics match. Plus there is more simplicity and natural by the way Mads did his version of Grindelwald as a lover of Dumbledore and the enemy. I also can see why people could get easy manipulated by him. With Johnny - I just felt some bits lacked a little, good but not like Mads. Maybe is just me… I don’t know.

Johnny made a stereotypical villain out of Grindelwald's character. The snarkiness, evil gaze and all the chills running down from spine madness but with Mads I think it was more human. He added layers to grindelwald's character. And somewhere it felt that Grindelwald kept his human side through his love for Albus alive.

I think it is great that we got Jonny and Mads for the films, because in the first two movies we needed to see Grindelwald's madness and craziness, so we'd understand why he was the villain, and how he did things. Johnny is really good at giving characters that bit of craziness, but elegance. Now, in the third movie, we got a new sight on Grindelwald, which required a kind of calmness, that I think Mads brought for this role. So it was perfect.

Despite feeling sad that Johnny Depp won't be Grindelwald anymore, I really want to see the full scenes of Grindelwald and Dumbledore's love. It's so sad to see Dumbledore's heart break once he realized Grindelwald wasn't going to stop destroying the world for his sake. "Who will love you now, Dumbledore?" That's such a perfect line from a person who would use (or abuse) love to get what he desires. (Also reminds me of Amber Heard's words taunting Johnny in the recorded evidence during their trial.)

This may be an unpopular opinion because of all the drama behind the scenes but I much preferred Mads as Grindelwald. He felt so much more believable as a character and his chemistry with Jude was excellent. Johnny's portrayal always felt like a character to me, rather than a person. It's a shame we probably won't get a continuation of this story.
