Dumbwaiter Control

Control circuit for turning a manual dumbwaiter into an electric one using BASIC electrical circuits instead of Adurino or other computer controls and a simple electric winch.
Basic winch purchased from Amazon for $90; electronic parts, $50.
Circuit would have been simple if it were not a 3-floor design.. additionally, there is a safety cutoff circuit that negates any motor or relay action via simple reed switches placed on the door at each floor which is not shown..
Note also the addition of diodes on the 2nd floor switch and at each junction leading to the motor controller.
Also, the relay pack was rated at 12vdc however the final motor controller was 5vdc (optical separation), so a 12v to 5v step down was added, but not shown for simplicity.

Not for sale, couldn't be.. too much customisation necessary. Additionally, the electronic 5v relays were swapped with traditional 12v ones as the small electronic versions could not handle the capacitor discharge when in operation. New video soon.

I was going old school with relays in a simple logic circuit, but there seems to be feedback issues even with diodes. I'm currently trying to configure an Ardorino to do the heavy lifting

This is the problem using antiquated circuits - it failed as you suggested correctly because of the feedback even though diodes were installed. Suggest using an Adarino with floor sensors/ switches instead.

I very much appreciate your dumbwaiter control project. Thank you for sharing it. I'm building something similar to your dumbwaiter, but it is a lightweight cargo lift (groceries, etc.) for our home. Would you be willing to share a schematic or sketch of the circuit for the final project with the 12v relays?

Garland, My project was a little more intense since there are three floors, but it's only a matter of simple relays with a 12-volt source, and a dead stop safety at either end. The buttons you choose which are available online, triggers the relay either up or down, until the dumbwaiter hits the dead stop. An older folk myself, I should have just gone ahead and used an Arduino computer, but you know, I'm old school and I just had to try it. I may redo it with the Arduino anyway.

Whoops, forgot: For safety sake, make sure you have some sort of switch on each door to disconnect the power to the entire relay system if the door is open.

Non ha funzionato correttamente, non so perché. Utilizzare invece Arduino con interruttori di arresto al piano/sensori ottici e pulsanti di selezione del piano all'esterno della porta. Non dimenticare gli interruttori di sicurezza all'apertura della porta

Yes I really did this for real and it worked, however there's a hidden feedback loop that I can't trace. I suggest you use an Arduino instead of the physical crap we get from China
