Shock collars should NEVER have even been invented! 😡 Bringing up my puppy, Scamp, was an absolute joy and I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Set boundaries from day one, be consistent with Toilet training, (there's no such thing as a lazy lie-in with animals!😴) Training sessions should be short (don't bore an animal with long sessions) have fun and always end on a good note. A well trained dog is a happy dog, and you'll have an un-breakable bond throughout their natural life. I lost Scamp 7 years ago to cancer at 11 years old, 💔 I held her as she crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Please people, Cherish every moment with your animals How would YOU feel if someone you loved just decided to walk up to you and give you a nasty shock?!!! 😢😢

@K9Tay Aww, Thank You. 🥰 We certainly did. ♥️ Your Cat is lovely 😍 I'm 62 now and I have Treasured memories of my Horse and Dogs years back. I now have 3 Guinea Pigs who bring just as much joy with their antics, 😂😍 they hear my key in the door and I can hear them wheeking before I open it! 😂🥰

Rewarding a dog after punishing or tormenting is like punching your wife or child and asking for forgiveness. Stupid.

Inspector Gadget was doing nothing but confusing the dog with his "system." His use of treats as lures also seemed off to me. I admit that I just don't get clickers. I've always marked a desired action with a "yes!" and a reward. Are people too hard ass now to act happy for their dog and instead prefer to click rather than use their voice? Are we losing cool points for not using a gadget? I'm also terrified of my dog being stolen. Have been from day one. So I never considered a clicker because I don't want some a** hole with a clicker and a jar of peanut butter to trick my dog into following him into the as-seen-on-tv kidnap van.

Thats a fair point! I instinctively use my voice as well, as I often times forget my clicker. When I first start a behavior I might use a clicker, but I fade away from it very quickly and transition to my voice. I am a major helicopter pet parent myself!!

I have never used a clicker. I prefer to communicate with my voice=more bonding and less baggage!

With my kitty, I click my tongue 5 times. So if she ever gets outside she will recognize that sound. She is 2 years old. I have had her since she was about 2 months. First inside only cat. Lots of work to exercise and keep entertained😅😅😅

Who invented these things and why did dog trainers run with it? Urgh. Did you see the episode with Cesar Milan using a shock collar? It’s horrible!
