Jesus H. Roosevelt. That’s the stupidest way to teach stay, ESPECIALLY with a sighthound. They are lazy as fuck, literally the easiest thing you can teach them is stay, because that’s their natural way of being anyway lol. You are basically just rewarding them being themselves. I’ve seen my own whippet slightly annoyed because I BROKE the stay, and she didn’t want to move. Not to mention, this pushing thing Beckman does can be absolutely a fun thing if the dog likes to play a little rough, so it is so inappropriate in every aspect of training. Sighthounds are very intelligent. I know I’m not making sense in a training session if my dog gives me a confused look. They are very good at pattern recognition (god knows for no reason other than mischief). Beckman makes this harder and more abusive than any regular balanced trainer would, and this is not a compliment to balanced trainers.

Tara has much to hard hands for a bitless bridle. Her hands are too hard for any sort of reins! She should go back to learning the basic of using your body/ balance instead of pulling on the reins like she is holding on to dear life.

I like how you peel back the layers and want the dogs to be set up for success. They thrive on that and, to me, it is essential and fundamental to the leadership that dogs look to us for instinctively. It's more of a long term strategy than these situational tactics that Beckman showcases.

OMG that poor horse. Yes, "sack of potatoes" is a perfect description. That woman needs to practice and train to strengthen her balance before mounting a horse and she needs to find a horse that can support her body weight. It's horrible to see stupidity when an animal is on the receiving end.

I just found your channel and will check out your other videos. Thank you again.

When will Tara ever learn, that using a rope halter or a hackamore bitless bridle with rough hands is going to get her nowhere with her progress? For me, using a clip-on rein that goes around the neck is a better option, or a treeless saddle and wool pads would be better for improving balance. They're good for walk/trot rides, cantering or galloping with a treeless saddle on can result in you flying off your noble steed's back, and leave you with a pine tree to the face, so bareback is better if you want to go faster without stirrups.

I taught dog obedience classes for several years at a training club. Currently I compete with 3 of my dogs in Rally/Obedience. I have been on the dog training circuit for many years and have never seen anyone teach "stay" by literally pushing a dog back!! What the😅 heck???. Is this guy making it up as he goes along? And what about the people who are sitting in his class and thinking this ridiculous, unprofessional method is right!

I’m new to your channel and so far I‘m enjoying your videos. I deliberately started with your critiques of channels that I like (it‘s easy to just agree with disliking someone, who‘s methods already seem iffy to you), because what you have to say is insightful. I like to hear the good with the bad, though, tell us when someone does something really well, tell us when you have a concern and obviously tell us when something is completely over the line. One thing I noticed was the comment towards the end about the legs being clean unlike the ‚last time‘, though, wich makes me think you‘re confusing Clever Cowgirl for Free Spirit Equestrian. It was FSE where you took issue with the muddy legs, not CC. I hope I‘m phrasing this gently enough, and you absolutely have my sympathy for any amount of hate that was and is directed your way. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with that and I‘m obviously not condoning any level of hate when I say: If you‘re going to make videos on the internet critiquing peoples animal handling, wich IS a super interesting topic, you‘re going to have to put up with some level of critique to your commentary. I get that the sudden influx of attention on you must be disorienting, and you‘re probably feeling a little defensive about it, but I‘d recommend trying to refrain from comments about peoples priorities with their animals, when you genuinely don‘t know what their priorities are and actually do what you say you‘re doing and just comment on what you see. If your commentary makes you sound uninformed or ignorant, especially if you make kind of catty comments ascribing motivation to people, without knowing the actual context like you did in this video, people will naturally want to provide you context on that. Just look at all the people telling you about why CC trims her horses tails, or heck, my comment. I was like ‚Oh, they seem like they confused CC with FSE, maybe it would be helpful for them to realize that going forward‘. From what you‘ve said in the four videos of yours I‘ve watched so far, you don‘t seem to want negative engagement and I don’t think you need to be antagonistic to keep people attention. Your opinions alone are interesting enough and our genuine love for the animals in the videos really comes through. Everytime you spotted Tiny the cat in the background, was delightful.

Tara tries bitless riding with a thin halter while riding Bella with the same harshness as usual, fails, goes back to riding Bella harshly with a bit, fails, blames the horse and refuses to do bitless riding again instead of taking accountability, and puts Bella on a two month vacation. The more I see what is happening to Bella, the more I wish Tara can sell her to a better and more competent person like she did with the Fresian she bought with Apollo, the Andalusian colt she sold because he wouldn't tolerate her nonsense and was "spoiled" (his name was Diablo and he was bought at around the same time as Bella), and Farouk because with how it is going, it would be for the best! She almost ruined Farouk and is on the way to ruining Bella who is still a young horse. Bella came from a breeder who left her out in the field under-muscled, unhandled, and sick. I won't be surprised if this early upbringing and Tara's mishandling of her end with Bella getting ruined and sold faster than the other horses Tara bought. Also, while there are legitimate welfare reasons to clip a horse especially horses with PPID and certain other health issues, horses who are overheating even when outside, horses who can't shed on their own, etc. it looks like Bella was clipped for vanity. She is continuing to ignore the discomfort Bella keeps telling her and keeps calling her stubborn or naughty with the influence of her creepy comment section not helping. It is honestly a shock Bella didn't explode yet. There are ways to easily ride a horse with a bit whether it's metal (snaffle or a similar bit), leather, rubber, a war bridle, etc. without being a clown who rides with harshly. I have seen a lot of humane equestrians on KZbinr and near my living area do this with none of them ever riding their horses in a way that causes pain so it's definitely possible! The problem is Tara once again because she refuses to change to gentler ways (look at her, she can't even ride with a halter!) and the results of her refusal to change are showing through Bella. I feel bad for this poor little horse.

I’ve just commented on Tara’s video to say I am a saddle fitter in her area and I would take a look at Bella’s saddle as it doesn’t look right at all. I actually know the fitters she uses as they also come to yards near me and I have not heard good things! But that’s a whole different story. The saddle she is using looks unbalanced, it is too wide once Tara is sat in it so it is sitting on her withers, it looks slightly too long for Bella in some clips and it will cause her pain in the long run if it isn’t already. I hate think that poor Bella is uncomfortable 🥺🐴

When I first discovered Tara's channel, I thought it was relaxing, with hacks out in the country and the grooming of her horses. Now, I don't watch it too much, with Bella always looking uncomfortable. I saw her attempt at going bitless and thought, at least she's going to try it, but Bella was getting mixed signals and looked very frustrated and uncomfortable. I won't be watching it anymore. I definitely prefer channels like Free Spirit Equestrian, much more educational, and the horses are calm and relaxed.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone with such hard, fixed hands who is meant to be able to ride/school. Just been back to watch her riding her other horses and it's exactly the same with all of them. The closer I watch, I can see she's using the reins for balance, especially during transitions because she doesn't have an independent seat! She needs to go back on the lunge with a trainer and have her reins taken away from her. As for the incessant "chatter" at her horses, no wonder they're confused and switched off from her. Poor horses.

That mare is beautiful, i dont like her rider . They are not a team , she does not represent us UK riders guys . She desperately needs a good AI to help her , i can see an explosive accident in their future 😢 . Bitless is definitely a better experience, ive never seen this woman before so ill try and find other videos of hers . I remember someone from my youth , wealthy parents kept buying great horses for spoilt daughter who was a lousy rider - She wrecked every single one 😢 . One mare went back to her original owner who had trained her , she was devastated. Took her 3 years to straighten her out and she kept her the rest of her life

What causes people like Tara to see everything as adversarial ? She's clearly incapable of having an actual relationship with Bella, she clearly can't stand the horse and scared of Bella. From what I hear, the British equestrian industry is full of this kind of BS.
@bigfish-ek1ijКүн бұрын
I am in the UK and sadly this kind of attitude towards horses is very common, especially amongst those who hunt. They see a horse as something to control and dominate and the riders do not have the slightest understanding of the nature of the animal they are riding, nor do they want to understand. Arrogance and fragile egos dominate the UK equestrian scene and it is painful to witness how horses are treated in this country. Go to any UK equestrian event and you will see many ‘riders’ just like Tara.
@lisaupdawrally2732Күн бұрын
You know what's really scary?. This woman trailers poor Bella all over the countryside and gallops her on all kinds of terrain. She always says Bella insists on running and so she allows her to do so. Tara cannot walk or stop this horse without tight rein control and even then it's iffy but she feels apparently perfectly safe with this situation. Lets see - 5 year old mare who is not properly trained or safely riden, older woman who is poor rider and has no control of young mare without full throttle control of reins galloping throughout countryside= (sadly) recipe for disaster for one or both of them. When Bella does do something that really scares Tara enough she will be sold off like all the others. She will be labeled difficult to ride, bossy, stubborn etc...but we all know better.😢
@debilionetti3211Күн бұрын
We also know that if Bella gets sold, it will be the best thing that could happen to her. I would love to see this lovely young mare sold to a competent rider who would work with her without having to haul on her mouth or constantly confuse her with contradictory cues. We need to keep our hopes up that it will happen and soon!

To Tara everything else is the problem, not her. She blames the horse, blames the equipment, blames other riders and their horses etc. Fails to actually look inwards and realise that she is causing all these issues with her horses. Tara has absolutely no feel, the saddle doesn't fit her, and that bit looks like it may be done up tight so even if there's slack in the reins there would still be pressure and pain... Bitless would be great for Bella, if Tara just gave her some loose rein and allowed her to stretch her head down and learn to relax in the walk. Someone should take Tara's reins away and put her on the lunge line in a round yard so she can learn how to feel the horse without using the reins to balance.... That's how I learned to ride (it was bareback too)... Then I fell off because I accidentally squeezed a little too hard and the horse went into a canter hahaha.. I was like 11-12 at the time though. This poor horse... This is how horses are ruined which then ends up needing rehab work (like bodywork, and going back to the basics from the ground up).. But also many "problem" horses end up being passed around because barely anyone has the knowledge to fix these issues... I wonder how Farouk is going, the poor little arabian that became a problem for Tara, so she sold him..

I don’t think she is on her last legs, she is a horse that is struggling massively due to the incompetence of the rider. She could do with being turned away for at least six months then started back at basic level with someone who knows what they are doing. For a horse that is rising 6 questions should be asked why there is no positive progression but of course Tara can’t see past the end of her nose. So sad.
