What's the power/control, to lower/raise the trailer drawbar, when disconnected from the tractor?
@thewetmovement90606 жыл бұрын
There is a switch on the drawbar that diverts some of the air from the air brake reserve canister that's on the trailer and the air pressure lifts the bar

@Cinnamonservices6 жыл бұрын
When he gets out the last time he shuts the engine down but doesn't set brakes and leaves the truck in reverse. There's a button he hits that rolls the motor over and moves the truck, but it won't start because ignition is off. Then he jumps in turns ignition on cranks again and pulls off!
@mack_titan6 жыл бұрын
@@Cinnamonservices thanks, did not know that was option ;)
@silentepsilon8886 жыл бұрын
@@mack_titan ... that option is the engine's starter motor that tries to start the engine but since the ignition is off and the truck is in reverse gear, the starter motor just turns the engine and the transmission which 'drives' the truck back a few inches.

this trailer is custom with lots of additional lights so there are a few xtra power cables that wouldn't be there normally. How do you transfer without the chain and the Hydraulic system?
@dieselhead79618 жыл бұрын
I've run a transfer dump before. It's just a set of rails with wheels (like this setup) on both, and a locking pawl on the transfer box. Undo the pawl, and push on the back of the transfer box and it rolls into the truck's box. Then lock it into the truck's box like normal and you're good. To put the transfer box back on the pup, you angle the truck box a little and pull on the transfer box and it'll roll back on to the pup, then relock the pawl and do the other normal stuff.
@thewetmovement90608 жыл бұрын
Dieselhead I have yet to see a non hydraulic system like the one you just explained. Our's all use a PTO (Power Take Off) which uses a hydraulic pump that turns a gear connected to a huge chain on the box.

@karmanchahal98178 жыл бұрын
there is a button inside the cab that turns the engine off. but once you press the button n the back it turns the motor while the truck is in gear which makes it role back.
@thewetmovement90608 жыл бұрын
Yes Karman is correct. He knows his stuff. Ya just like he said, once you have lined up your truck to your trailer you put it in gear (reverse) and flip you convertor switch in your cab which changes your ignition from the key over to the bump switch button located at the back beside your hitch. Then once you clean up your ball and lift your trailer reach you hit the bump switch which turns over the engin causing your rig to keep rolling back. One thing you want to take note of is that it's optimal to be within a few feet of your trailer as bumping it back 10 feet 5 - 10 times a day is going to kill your starter in no time
@devonte30628 жыл бұрын
When he pulled up if you notice he got out of the truck with it in reverse with the motor off, so when he got to the back ready to hook to the tow bar there is a button to turn the motor with the starter thus moving the entire tractor back. Im guessing there is some fail-safe in the cab like leaving the key off so that the truck doesnt actual turn on completely and idle back into the trailer.

You guys must be Italian with all that spaghetti you’re throwing around! I run Rogue or Reliance boxes and there’s two air lines like any trailer, and one or two electrical plugs and one safety chain. You don’t have to hook up hydraulics when you transfer because the air or electric motor drives the wheels on the box itself. This is as weird as it gets for me but hey, different country.
@dirtysouthracing97675 жыл бұрын
One thing I noticed is that when he hooked up the trailer he never put a safety pin in the latch. Yes I know they aren’t supposed to open on that type hitch but ACCIDENTS do happen!!
@WhyNotChris04 жыл бұрын
So on that type of pintle hitch, you can see when he drops it that there is a little flange above it. That little flange prevents the hitch from lifting up. It tucks sort of underneath so the only way to unlock the hitch is manually.

In the Vancouver BC Canada area there is many developments done on property that is down a hill or tight driveway ect. If you drive rock truck you know how much easier it is to drive the truck alone opposed to pulling ANY trailer weather its Pup, end dump, transfer ect. With the transfer you basically get the mobility of driving just the truck but have the capacity ot a truck and pup or end dump. You pull your load out to a job, park your truck and trailer roadside or somewhere easily accessible and dump your truck, then return to the easily accessible location to butt up to your trailer and then transfer your trailer box into the front truck (like the russian dolls) then head over say down the tight driveway or down a side road and dump the trailer box then return to transfer the box back on to the trailer and your on your way. When im warmed up it can all be done in 10 - 12 minutes so to get the xtra precision its not a huge set back by any means! I hope this explination helps
