It’s sad when people throw out what could still be reuseable, even with things that are in their boxes. But I’m glad to see you could try and salvage as much as possible. If we could spread the word that there are people who want something they could keep and use again and again, we could reduce the chances of Landfill and help the environment.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree that it's a shame to see these toys in the bin, we live in a world which is so dysfunctional that even if these were donated, someone would end up suing the company if something wasn't 100% perfect. This is why companies would rather mitigate liability by throwing things out then donating. Sad times.

I remember in the late 1990s working for Poundstretcher and we had old Christmas stock which had been sitting in the stock room for a few years. We weren't allowed to put it out for sale so it all went to the tip or in the skip. A whole trailer of the stuff was gone and had to be bent or cut up so it wouldn't be taken. Sad times. Also in the mid 2000s putting out food waste for m&s. Had to spray dye on it so homeless wouldn't eat it. But to be honest I was meant to open all the packaging and spray the toxic dye inside. I didn't do this and just nominally sprayed it over the cardboard. If someone had eaten it with the dye they'd be much worse off.
