In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. The hire company of these dumpsters sort the trash out, most of it will pass along a conveyor belt, boxes will be sent to a compressor which presses the boxes together until it's the size of a family car, the iron, steal and other scrap will be pulled out to scrap.....Not all, but most......Trash will go to a land fill as humans we destroy the world we live in.

Mike, the wrist straps are grounding straps for electronics/computer work mats. They go around the wrist, then snap to a ground snap on the mat to reduce the risk of static damage to sensitive components. Love the videos, keep it up! God Bless!

The one with the fans, there was A LOT more at the bottom, more motors too, would have been worth moving a few things......Sometimes you have to move stuff on the top to get to the gold, only costs you sweat.

Those velcro strap thing you have two of are ESD (Electro Static Discharge) straps for grounding yourself when working/building computers :)

Okay, I have jump envy really bad, you jumped from the top of that thing! If I tried that with my knees I would still be lying there in the morning when the workers came to work crying like a little bitch! I spent 10 years in the army and I was airborne! We had Xcellite tool cases at work that looked pretty much like the tool pallet you found. The pallet would have a suitcase style box that everything came in as a tool set. You found about 5-10% of the set. I always liked the old school look of the pocket knives that came with the set. This was back in the late 1970s. I would not be surprised if the rest of the set wasn’t buried in the dumpster.

All of the stuff in the dumpster starting at 14:30 are the remnants of a telecom build-out. The grey metal is all parts of ladder rack to support cabling above or below racks that house the equipment. You can get wayyy more than scrap value if you have a buyer in the field that uses it. I wish you were closer to my location!

43:37 Those look like antistatic wrist wraps what you use when fixing computer and other electric things if you want to look professional or if you are really scared of static electricity.

The worst part is you had 8 other people like your comment that was naive at best. When I built computers for a living they saved my wallet several times. Static discharge can ruin a motherboard. $200 down the drain! It's an electrical component and no refunds after installation.

At about 15:00 looks like left overs from a cable management system. you order a kit designed for your installation, and the manufacturer sends a complete (usually) package, then you cut off what is too long, and nearly always have a surplus of hardware. I helped install a bunch of this stuff in the late sixties. Great source of raw materials for projects! Nearly always painted dove grey.That pressure washer had a CAT pump, which is generally considered as the best! Lots of industrial fans in the dumpster? Equals a building now air conditioned, as a rule. Nice night's haul!

Mike. You lucked into either a telephone company or a cell tower dumpster. That is telco equipment with the hardware to bolt it together. They are notorious for letting that stuff get over ordered then need more room and toss it out. Good haul and good scrap!!!!!

If you know a welder, maybe see if they will make you a little low deck trailer for the bulky items like refridgerators, water heaters, washers and such. Use angle iron, scrap lumber and other stuff you find for it.
