STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAILS PROVIDED IN THE VIDEO.

Baked in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 30 mins. Your baking time may vary depending on your oven.
INGREDIENTS I USED:
1 Box Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix
1 C All Purpose Flour
1/2 C Sugar
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 C Buttermilk
1 Stick Melted Butter
1/4 C Oil
1 C Coffee of your choice (Room temperature)
3 Lg Eggs (Room Temperature)
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 Tblsp Vanilla Extract
2 Dropper fulls of Chocolate Oil

8 Oz Cream Cheese (room temperature)
1 Stick Softened Unsalted Butter
4 C more or less of Powdered Sugar
1 Tblsp Vanilla Flavoring

This is the first time I've seen a box cake hack adding flour to the mix. It looks like a scratch cake. A lot of time you say you've never tried making it with your special additions, but it always come out perfect. That has to be a gift. Miss Donna nothing wrong with the way you icing the cakes.

I'm with you on the red if it's red velvet it needs to be red. I think you did a great job on frosting the cake. It looks like it doesn't have as many holes it in by adding the flour and sifting it. Happy valentines day you two.

Bless your heart! You are really trying, but I so agree with you. By the time you do all of this, you could have made a cake from scratch. Greetings Donna, I finally got around to making your doctored up red velvet cake, but I made a few changes to it. Instead of using red velvet cake mix, I used Betty Crocker's white cake mix with the pudding included. I also added 1 TBSP of AmeriColor super red color jel ( the same red food coloring you used), two TBSP of cocoa power(leveled), two TBSP of vinegar, and I didn't add any coffee. My cake turned out to be blood red and I love it !!! I'm gonna keep experimenting with this recipe. The cake is great the way it turned out, but next time I'm gonna see what happens if I add some sour cream...😋

I hate the extreme fluffiness/ holes in boxed mix since they changed the formulas. I have found that as soon as I pull cake out of oven I place paper towels on top and cover with pot holder, I then press down on cake, all over, not too hard , but it does help to make cake more dense. Also Donna, I know you love Creme bouquet, but have you ever tried "sweet buttery dough" flavor emulsion from Lorrann? It's amazing in yellow/pound cakes. Smells divine!

You could use white cake mix and add cocoa to it with red color ot comes out a beautiful color your cake looks yummy ❤
