I received my Edelkrone SliderONE V2 and the HeadONE today and I was so worried about it after seeing this video. Having said that mine is buttery smooth. Couldn't be more satisfied with it. I'm running a 90D and Sigma Art 18-35mm F1.8. I doubt I could even replicate some of the footage here. I'm wondering if some of the units are just faulty. Just a thought.

I had in total 6 headone and two sliderone v2 and I have been able to get great footage out of it but not consistent and not really for macro... @@DuncanDimanche-sreview Wow 6 months for a reply lol I don't have much footage uploaded with it, however here is one video when I just got it, Pretty much all of it is macro product shots. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHPPfKKHd7WNp6M first shot is at 10 second mark, followed by shots from the 23 second mark (all close up macro shots). No attempt was made to get spectacular shots or anything, just a quick video. What I've learned since using it in that video is to make sure the whole setup has reasonable balance when mounted together. I'm not in anyway claiming the video is amazing or anything but having said that the whole setup has totally exceeded my expectation for ease of use and shots I've been able to get. The only time I've got a shot I wasn't happy about was on one occasion where my shutter speed was way too high and I had no ND filter so I had to just live with it, but that was also true for all the hand held shots that day.

What you can do,...if you have a Sony,...is uses the post gyro data stabilization using the Sony catalyst software. When you software stabilize it it Sony,..the do a second pass with your NLE stabilization, you can fix 99.9% of it in post. It's a lot of extra work but it will clean up all that judder.

You need to nodal align your sensor to the Edelkrone. The jerking is your sensor catching up to the pan because it's change position to quickly. This happens with all pan and tilt devices unless your sensor or film back has nodal alignment. One downside to Edelkrone making complex operations simple is you still need to understand how your camera works.
@DuncanDimanche-sreview4 жыл бұрын
Mutiny Films yeah I am more aware of it now. and I did a bunch of new tests with the new products that they sent me (upgraded version) and it works better but still getting weird wobbles and tiny stutters even at low speed...
@Zero_industries4 жыл бұрын
Duncan Dimanche this is a problem with cmos sensors in general even on manual devices with zero backlash. It’s amplified by devices that have backlash in the gears. There is a formula for speed of camera moves based on frame rate for all cameras even film. Using a global shutter camera eliminates a lot of these problems but nodal alignment is the usual suspect. If it’s not aligned It makes the image jerk as the camera moves. I was a director of photography and moved into robotics with computer vision to make computer vision camera cranes. Now I am dealing with the same problems on autonomous ground vehicles and quadruped robots. The problems with cmos rolling shutter are many. Switching to a global shutter helps dramatically with the jerking and skew. If the camera is mounted solid and you can’t move it around a lot before it engages a gear you should be able to remove those problems. If there is backlash in the gears it’s all on Edelkrone.

I wonder, have they improved their HeadOne unit in a current v2 version regarding those issues you've metioned in this review? Based on website description, moving speed was increased twice. Also their app have that "soft stop slider" - have you tried to play with those settings? I've saved $200 after reading your suggestions here in the comments about Zeapon as an better alternative. Currently i need a tilt only mechanism for my footage, going with edelkrone could cost me $399+139+49 plus shipping (with case and tilt adapter) for just one unit. I've bought an entire pan + tilt assembly PD-E1 from Zeapon for $378 + $40 for case with free shipping from Aliexpress just a few minutes ago... Same edelkrone setup could cost me $798+139+49+49.

I get what you are saying and I agree that the footage looks shaky but it some examples it looks like a problem with mismatched frame rates as the jitter/jumping is regular not random. What you need to remember is that this is the least expensive motion control system on the market not designed for professional studio macro application but a quick "epic" establishing shot, timelapse, or quick b-roll that the vast majority of viewers won't see anything wrong with. Still a shame that they can't get this sorted out, was thinking of buying it but won't now.

This man is speaking the truth. I am extremely surprised with so many positive reviews out there and I was disappointed with the result as I have bought both original sliderOne and head one. If you guys can see the jitters and think it’s okay, more power to you. But some of us work for paid clients and there are many perfectionist artist out there (both clients and freelancers) and this could potentially just increase a lot of workload. I don’t want to completely bash edelkrone , minute precision control is hard but false advertising is just not right. If they were presented jerky, and they were cheaper and targeted towards casual artist/creator who just want to get good shots briefly, then I guess it’s fine. But advertising right now and flooded sponsored reviews is just plain wrong. Will I still use their product? YES and be fully aware what I am up against. When I get the time to keep repeating the same shots 10-15 times until getting perfect one, sure why not...I’ll do it. But the effort for such trial and error is not appreciated. Will I recommend it to friends? Also yes but I will show them this video and tell them what they are going to experience and if they are okay with that, I won’t stop them from buying. Cuz it is almost the best thing out there for what it does but just not perfect. -- I have shown Edelkrone and emailed them about the jerkiness and they said something like “our product is not meant for macro shots” and also asked me to use lens stabilisation or editing software stabilisation. -- Thank you for honest review and it’s sad to see how little view this has, but those who have seen it are very lucky people who have dug deep into the reviews. I literally searched “Edelkrone sucks” to find your videos and I will remember to do such search for any product in the future so that I can also listen to the other side of the story before buying a product. Even though I already bought my product , I still thank you for providing such honest video content.

mine ? or other people's ? I did try with and without internal Stab but the results were the same.. i think that speed also has a big influence on the jitters
@WhiteMic3 жыл бұрын
You sir are correct. However, there are a few things that are out of edelkrones control that could effect your results. Before I start, I 100% agree with there being jitter at start and stop, constantly, on any settings. I think edelkrone just oversold the amount of weight these things can handle. Depending on your version of the products you need to 1) make sure that it is evenly balanced. Again this comes down to them over selling how much weight it can handle, try a lighter more evenly distributed setup. 2) make sure that you are on solid ground. 2nd story of your house is not solid ground, solid ground I mean soil or concrete. It sucks but I notice when i'm up stairs, my edelkrone products shake like no other with any vibration coming from anywhere up stairs. 3) use sequencer - you cannot and will not get smooth shots just setting poses, it's impossible. to reduce jitter, make sure you're in sequencer. So those are the things out of edelkrones control right. Now onto the jitters. What i've learned to do is to not only shoot in slow motion (4k/60 or 4k/120) but I'll purposely start my motion way before and way after the shot that I want because the ease function sucks. What I end up doing is hoping that in between there I have some sort of usable shot and let it repeat several times and hopefully have something usable. ---- In summary their products are overpriced, over hyped, don't hold as much weight as they say and if you watched any reviews or tutorials or anything from them you'll know that the speed is not that fast. Their sliders are decent, but the jib, oh my the jib is bad. I can't get the thing to do a pan up to save my life it just errors out, but it will do the down motion no problem. The motors just aren't strong enough. And just to clarify I purchased all of their stuff, over 4k worth of their crap but i'll make due with it for now i guess.
@DuncanDimanche-sreview3 жыл бұрын
You sir make some very good points ! And I am aware now that there are tons of things that are out of edelkrone's hands. I can even add that motion blur from panning too fast can be a problem for some focal length. My quick answer to your beautiful and insightful comment is this : I have used other sliders slypod and the zeapon with great success in fact with his upon I've done some extreme macro shots that were super super smooth beyond what I had imagine I could do one to one ratio macro. You can check out my review on it. So i have been able to set myself up in great conditions to create super smooth motion shots using sliders. I think that if I was getting the same jitters with EVERY SLIDERS that I used I would start questioning myself a bit more haha. I have tried the ifootage shark nano for example and it is soooo bad ! the jitters are insane. But back to Edelkrone and their marketing... when I see that they do macro shots with the camera extended on their tilthead it makes me cringe with anger. Cause like you said you do need to balance your setup properly. And to be fair I tried my pocket4k and sigma 18-35 on it and it couldn't even tilt on the tiltkit with two headones but I don't think I even thought about balancing it. Anyway I am now looking forward to the Zeapon panning head system but my hopes are very very low at this time.... #losthope oh yeah that Jib... I really want to try it haha

The Jitters/Judders are likely not due to the HeadOnes. It is likely the settings in your camera. I had the same issue when I initially set up my HeadOnes until I realized the judders were actually related to the camera settings that interfere with the video when panning and tilting.

I tried everything mate. changing the settings (50fps) slowing down the headone , having a stronger tripod amd then i bought the Zeapon micro 2 and my life changed... haha no more jitters amd I was able to do some intense macro shots with it without post image stabilizing So i understand that some settings will definitely change the way it operates but in the end It wasn't reliable enough for me. some shots would be decently smooth (but even that was a stretch) and some shots were just too shaky

@@DuncanDimanche-sreview In my case, I set my framerate to exactly half of the shutter speed and the jitters/judders immediately resolved. I initially had the camera set at 1/60 for shutter speed and 24 FPS but every video I made had the Jitters. I then researched it and learned that it was the settings in the camera and was advised to try adjust the framerate. Just by increasing the framerate from 24 to 30 immediately gave me smooth video and now I use my pan and tilt function on the HeadOnes with no issue. I guess the issue would now be that I can’t pan or tilt at 24 frames per second but I may not really need that for just brief shots of panning. If you still have the HeadOnes after all this time and you have not tried this, give it a try and maybe update us. If you tried it already then I’m not sure what it could be. There is some articles online that addresses Judders when panning and specific formulas to use in your settings to correct the issue but I didn’t go that far in using them since mine was a relatively easy fix. Whatever the case may be, you did a good job presenting the issue here.

They don’t do pan tilt generally but a guy attached the slider to his fluid head tripod and did a slow pan manually and the results were very usable. At least this way I’m only out of pocket a couple hundred and I know what to expect. I would be heartbroken spending 1500 plus on something that isn’t a+ perfection.... which this hardly seems like. I think the head plus version is better than connecting two head ones but still, not a great look for them and it’s still 5-6x the cost of cheap ones

If u can carry 10 kg x speed, you can't stop 10kg instantly moving at x speed it physics. One little tip id like to share. I've owned Rhino Sliders with the ARC and currently own the iFootage Shark Mini with the X2 head and I can tell you that micro-jittering is a thing with ALL of them. I had ifootage send me a replacement X2 because it was so bad. To their credit they did. However, the second head still has some issues. Having said that, when I shoot 4k, on my 6500 with IBIS I don't notice it that much. I think in-camera stabilization helps this issue immensely. I also wonder if the Headplus PRO (with its higher payload capacity) would improve this. I'm considering getting an Edelkrone Headplus system just for its more robust app features. The iFootage is ok but not ideal. I understand where you are coming from but I have to perfectly smooth shots are pretty much impossible with anything less that a high-speed robot.

Hi Duncan! I just saw this film, I actually just posted a film about this too as I kept getting questions about shake 🔥 I've been using the SliderONE v2 and HeadONE for quite a while, as well as the SliderONE PRO v2. Now and then I have slight jitters depending on my camera setup, though I haven't found a slider that I don't have micro jitters with, if you watch the film you'll see the Rhino is even worse in some cases. I find using larger front heavy lenses puts pressure on the motor/s and creates shake, but most of the time it's okay. I also made another film on how the SliderONE drops when sliding vertical, it can't handle the a7III, 24-70GM and HeadONE, which are within the 2.3kg weight limit stated by Edelkrone. There are a few things that annoy me, such as I can't press a button on the app to straighten the HeadONE on the slider, that drives me mad. Anyway, thanks for the film, I hope things get better with time.

The vertical drop freaks me out everytime on the SliderONE v2, you can see it in the "honest review" I did. The SliderONE PRO v2 does not have this problem however. It's odd Edelkrone states such weights when it can't carry them. The tilt kit can hold 3.1kg, you can see in my review the HeadONE motor gives in when tilting my setup. How fast does it go at it's fastest speed? The Rhino slider is pretty fast. I'm on the fence between this one and that one. They both have pluses and minuses. This expandable slider doesn't seem like it would be sturdy and would topple over over time and break your camera.. Secondly the higher you mount it the more unstable it can be so how can you do high shots like you can if you use two tri pods with some of the other ones?....The Rhino slider has a face tracker which means it tracks a person as they move. you know it's a tough call on that one cause jitters can occur for a lot of reasons. the gimbal the headone the speed at which you pan the tripod you use how close you are focusing the focal length so all that adds can add up to a messy mess of jitters. Lazlo T I sent a long reply but it did not send !!!!! aaaaaahhh hahah to sum up 1) the problem with reviews online is that they don't tell us if they have applied some electronic stabilization in post... 2) the other thing that we need to take into consideration is the effect of motion jitter or motion jerkiness (not sure about the actual name) but this is cause when you pan too fast. and the speed at which you can pan without having this stutter motion. OMG!!!! I just received my SliderONE V2, HeadONE, and FLEXTlit Head 2 last two weeks ago, have filmed some close-up films, and found the same jitter issue~ I thought using a steady ball head like FLM CB-38 directly on the HeadONE might overcome the iitter issue of HeadONE, but haven't proved it yet. Then I watch your current video now!!!! What should I do to further lower the jitter of HeadONE??

I think that you should contact edelkrone cause they can help with making sure that everything is setup properly what gear are you using ? lens how close focused are you ? I would avoid the flextilt head for this type of setup for sure here are some stuff you can try: 1) you can start by shooting at 50fps even if you are not using the video in slow motion it will help 2) don't move too fast 3) try just the slider alone and see if you get jitters too 4) try just the headone alone and see if you get jitters 5) there are things that you can tweak to tighten or loosen the headone and the sliderone (ask edelkrone for that) try all that ;) let me know how it went

I am hearing mixed reviews. If people are lying because they are being sponsored than how do you eplain the smooth footage they are showing?
@DuncanDimanche-sreview5 жыл бұрын
George s Pogacich that's a very good question ! there are many ways. 1) use a camera and a lens with stabilization to get rid of some of the jitters 2) to do the same motion over and over until one of them is smooth (I have gotten smooth results doing just that) cause when it works it works fine but it's just not consistent. 3) Use really good software to get rid of the jitters or other imperfections. 4) most the footage out there as you might have seen in my videos are not smooth. 5) I might be paranoid but maybe they use a different slider than advertised (that's a BIG maybe) like using the Headplus instead of the tilt kit with two headONES... cause most big sponsored probably also have a headplus to test. 6) Use a smaller camera than advertised 7) Use the camera in different positions or situations than what the behind the scenes are showing but I do believe that it's most likely #2 combined with #1 and add post stabilization.... I have noticed that with my A7riii when the IBIS is on the jitters and less pronounced
@georgespogacich30665 жыл бұрын
@@DuncanDimanche-sreview yes and one way is editors such as final cut have stabilization features too to be fixed in post, but they don't solve for micro jitters and though stops and starts can be smoothed out you can still see the speed inconsistancies...I didn't detect foul play here where I could tell those approaches were used....Yes it's true that you can still attempt this with DSLR cameras but you cannot with say more pro cams like mini Ursa and some Black Magic cams.. I believe there may be one or two videos using these cameras and I believe the footage is shown to be super smooth..For this the Head Plus one was used. Do you think it's possible that with the Headone plus they may have fixed these shaky issues?.........The video and demo you showed here is so poor and unacceptable that it's confusing when you read reviews in credible magazines and they give Edlekrone 5 stars and say it's the top of the heap.. Amazon carries it and so does B&H and they endorse it. I don't think they would happily endorse Edlekrone if they were getting a zillion returns a day....If you call them up and ask them they say they get very few returns.
@AustralianImage4 жыл бұрын
I think you're absolutely correct. Given that Edelkrone units cost so much, they should be vastly better than what they are. Your video popping up is quite timely in fact as Edelkrone just released their JibONE and, not surprisingly, around half a dozen well know KZbinrs were touting the product, including the HeadONE. Every video I watched was as if they were all reading from the exact same script. I don't think these 'reviewers' even try to hide the fact that their reviews are not their own opinions anymore.

Australian Image I don't think that their prices are outrageous considering what they claim they can do.... but they sure don't deliver :(
@AustralianImage4 жыл бұрын
Cost vs performance was my main issue. KZbin used to be a good source of unbiased product information, but as certain channels gained popularity, their credibility started to go down (in my view anyway). And unfortunately these channels tend to dominate KZbin searches/recommendations, so that you can't find other voices so easily. Your channel just came up by happenstance.

Great video and I share your frustration. I own the Slider Plus Pro and Headplus with focus module and in my opinion the only thing that works as it should is the slider - but only if placed on a flat surface and used manually without the motor. On a tripod the thing becomes much to shaky for any serious work if you put anything heavier than a pound on it (a bmpcc 6k with any lens in my case). Another dealbreaker is the Focus module - if you think that the head or slider modules are jittery, try the focus module! It packs so much torque that even by repeatedly calibrating that sucker it still shakes the whole setup while engaging/shifting focus. Customer support is great and accommodating but even they say they cannot change the amount of torque that thing applies. That is, if this should be the cause of the problem... All in all - a lot of money wasted. I am just hoping for firmware updates to solve some of those issues...

frankly I have the same equipment as yours, when I use this stuff at first, the footages were shakey at the end of the travel of the slider. However, if you start recording mode when you operate the slider on your App, the footage’s shaker problems will be solved.
@DuncanDimanche-sreview5 жыл бұрын
Hulk i’m not sure what you mean by “start recording when operating the slider on the app”.... We HAVE to use the app to start the slider... what setup do you have ?
@hulk22125 жыл бұрын
Duncan Dimanche I guess I will confused you, lol. So what I mean is, when you open the App, and you could see that there is button left side for adjust the speed of slider, and there is a red with ‘REC’ button on the right side. That’s what I am talk about. Once you set up every key frame of the slider, you could hit the ‘REC’ button first, than the App will shows that the recording mode is on. So, my personal understanding of this because if you don’t start the recording mode the slider will only perform the roughly way, you know, like a presentation to show you how your footage looks like, that’s why it will shake the footage at the beginning and the end of travel. Hopefully this might help you, and also have you checked your slider or head one? Like is there any loose or something else physical problem on that? That also could caused your footage looks shakey. BTW, sorry for my poor English :-)

I wish I had seen this video years ago. I have wasted so much time battling with Edelkrone sliders - trying to get rid of the jitter. I originally bought the largest slider. It was jittery for everything but it was most noticeable on macro shots. I contacted Edelkrone and sent them samples of my footage. They said that amount of jitter was acceptable and if I wanted something smoother I needed to get the small desktop slider. So I did but had the same issues. Again I sent them sample footage and again they said that level of jitter was acceptable. Now I'm stuck with sliders that I don't use. I'm almost afraid to sell them on Ebay because they are inherently faulty.

HeadPlus with a SliderPro and a Sony A7 III is a killer combo. You do get some sliiight jittering if you do shots that are very fast and stop at the maximum length of the slider but seriosly the HeadPlus is really really smooth. Apply a slight Warp Stabilizer and the footage looks as if the camera is floating through the air. I have used this combo on 3 professional sets already and the performance is really impressive - although the closer you get to the phyisical limits (slider extension, weight of you camera) the more probable it is to get some slight hickups. However what he says about the app completly applies to the HeadPlus - I have to use a dedicated Tablet with no phone calls or notifications as this interrupts the connection regularly. Since I used the old tablet everything is fine. It is a great combo, hit me up if you need more info.

@@baubergo I bought the JibOne yesterday but it says it has 8 weeks delivery time. I work mostly solo or with an assistant and do industrial and product work most of the time. For this workstyle the edelkrone products have been a lifesaver - I often work in places where you cannot operate (running machines etc). A gimbal was always too unreliable for me as sometimes I only have one try to get a shot an repeating would mean long wait times (machine reset). For product work the equipment is simply fantastic. Reproducing shots enables me to do so much creative editing I cant even start. They are very easy to setup although as mentioned before the app has some hiccups. I cna operate them alone and once they run I can start setting up light etc. I can operate a B roll camera on a gimbal while they loop through motion. I use them with Sony cameras because the autofocus works so well as you only are able to focus Cine lenses with the focus module. I am considering getting a nucleus nano for the jib. I have a cine lens for my gh5 and using that worked really well with the app. I am pretty sure most of their bundles are great but the HeadPlus really is the main part of the setup - it allows for some fantastic parallax. The customer support in my country is fantastic - they sent me some extra pieces to solve a Workflow issue within a day or so. All in all its really expensive gear but it really works, impresses clients and rnables me to focus on other things than just camera. I have the slider pro plus with the slide module and the headplus - I got the Jib so that I can have 2 fully automated cameras on set and operate a third camera on a gimbal to make sure I have every angle possible. Being able to do that alone or with a single person is simply amazing.

Jitter can be occour due to multiple reasons; Shutter speed Frame rate Pan speed Focal lenght Screen refresh rate(hertz) If you increase your frame rate you should increase shutter speed as well and that will allow you to make faster pans without jitter. If you use higher focal lenght you should slow your pan. And one of the most important thing is the frame rate and screen hertz combo. If you shoot videos in 24p and watch it through 60 hertz monitor you will see jitters. You should shoot minumum 30p even higher 60p(evenly dividable frame rate and hertz combo) and watch through 60hertz monitor. I experienced this 24p and 60hz combo in one my video shoot. I shoot 24p video and watched my regular 60p screen and there is ugly jitter. But when i watch the same video in night time through my samsung phone(samsung decrease screen hertz for low brightness settings) jitter went away. When i watch in my 60hz screen it comes back on. I believe problem didn't originated in slider, rather the setting and combination of different aspects.

Anıl Ağırdır hello there and thanks for your in depth message. I am aware of all those factors that can create jitters. but Now i shoot in 50fps to avoid the motion jitter and when I see jitters I really don't mean motion jitters. I really mean little stutters and jerky movements. I have received the Zeapon micro2 and it is one smooth motorized slider. I will do a side by side very soon. and yes at 50fps I raise my shutter speed to 1/100th of a second. I will post the results soon

Hi Duncan, Liked and subbed! Looking at the Rhino Arc II ultimate bundle vs. Edelkrone head plus pro + slider plus pro long + motorized slide module v2. As I commented below in the threads, a lot of this depends on use case (as you mentioned in your video your head one is not suitable for macro shots) but also other factors such as: - using camera bodies without ibis will show micro jitters more - wrong tripods or right tripods used improperly. I believe the most stable would be 75mm bowl base but I think for heavier setup, it’s better to have two same tripods on each end rather than one in the middle. And using w leveling base adapater to make sure everything is leveled (missing on all sliders or not mentioned much) - user error not setting up right or not familiar with system as ramp up time is needed I think once you neutralize all these possibilities, then you can truly know where the core issue lies. Having said that, I only thing the head plus and pro gives the most stability. Curious if you tried the Rhinogear arc ii or syrp genie 2?
