Little color theory tip. At the hottest (white) area of the blade add the smallest tint of a blue green (phthalo blue) into your white to cool it off. It will glow even more. Cool white against warm yellow orange creates a push pull with your eye. It is a cool optical illusion.

This is just so well put together tutorial for these types of swords 👍 That magma in particular is something I'll be using on most of the swords for my marines, because it just looks damn good and if done properly like shown here, it looks realistically hot too. Like something you would subconsciously avoid touching. And if your hand ever had made contact with red hot iron or steel, even looking at something done this way will make you hesitate a bit 😂

I've seems various tutorials on how to paint swords, but your duncan is by far the best one, and I'm not bad mouthing the other creators, far from it, just the level of care and explanation you do in your videos are so much in detail that helps a lot, one thing you've shown us that usually you don't see anywere is the brush strokes, and your handling of the painting on the pallet makes us even see the consistency of the paint we have to achieve wich helps a lot, thanks duncanyou are saving my life since your last job before this one
