Ultimately, Frank Herbert's epic series is a cautionary tale about the dangers of following religious demagogues. For those unfamiliar with the books, Paul Atreides seems to be walking the path of a hero. But he isn't a hero, and it's going to be interesting to see how Denis Villeneuve puts a bow on this story. Much of the story in Dune: Messiah is told by an ancient historian looking back on the holy war, and by the time you reach the last few books, you're thousands of years into the future long after Paul or his children. Obviously the bar is set pretty high, but I'm confident that Denis V. is creating a true masterpiece, and tearing down all of the clichés in modern science fiction cinema.

He goes from a strong voiced leader of the Fremen who is skeptical of Paul but see's signs, and bit by bit as Paul becomes Fremen, Stillgar watches the prophecy come to fruition and devolves to being a fanatically entranced follower of Paul.

My favorite things about Feyd's birthday fight. (1) It's not black & white, exactly, it's infrared cameras. But the transitions you see when people enter the "light" of the black sun...was made with 3D cameras shooting at the same time as the infrared. (2) The non-drugged Atreides is actually 1., the stunt coordinator on both movies, and 2., in part one, the Atreides commander leading the first defensive assault against Harkonnen in the palace steps. (He's also just a famous stunt coordinator. He's a bodyguard in 007: "Skyfall.") (3) Harkonnen architecture is deeply inspired by H.R. Giger, most famous for the Xenomorph in the "Alien" series, but also was once asked to design a DUNE movie in the '70s.

Paul got memories just like Jessica after taking the Water of Life but the Kwizatz Haderach is able to see the memories of not just of the women side but also the men's. Plus he can see the past and multiple futures so he can see exactly what that guy was praying about.
@andrewmelnikov2926 ай бұрын
Not exactly "see" (he can't read minds), but he can do what is called "cold reading" - he can make guesses. Except real life "magicians"/"mediums" use very general guesses and narrow them down judging by the reaction of the public. Paul can *foresee* the reaction of the public. So even if he doesn't know things, he can do a million guesses in his mind, calculate future results and see which lead him to "guessing right" and which do not. It requires a lot of brainpower - to process all that quickly, and also precise prescience. But that's *exactly* why Bene Gesserit were trying to create a Kwizatz Haderach - to foresee futures and manipulate people towards what they believe is "best". Basically, they got their "messiah" - except due to their arrogance and cruelty it is a "messiah" who hates them and whom they cannot control.

The reason deni wasn't sure about doing dune 3 was because dune messiah is not that big and also it doesn't have a lot of action scenes in it , very less i might say! But in part 2 there are soo many action scenes or just paul riding on the worm and everything which gives us chills! Those stuff are less in dune messiah cause its more of a political drama kinda thing i guess so thats why deni said he wouldn't make dune 3 unless the screenplay of it is as good if not better than part 2 But whatever i said right now doesn't mean that dune messiah is not good as the others,if anything its wayyy Better than part 2 which is already a masterpiece in my opinion! Not necessarily. But he's not a hero either. At this point he can die like a "hero" (like his father) or try to steer things in the less destructive direction. I Believe he honestly tries to do that. Paul Atreides is no white saviour. That’s the entire point of Dune Messiah.
@yarsivad000.56 ай бұрын
@@wackyvorlon And Chani in the book did not see her beloved Paul as any thing negative. In Denis version she tells Paul he can not truly ever be Freeman because “You are not of the Desert.” A true Freeman must be the one to lead the Freeman out of the yoke of oppression not an outworlder. This is how Dune Part Two ends with Chani looking at Paul like she hates him. In Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah Chani is trying desperately to conceive Paul’s child. In Denis Dune Part Three, Chani will lead an opposition to Paul’s leadership and Irulan will be an ally of her but surprise so will Paul’s sister Alia. They will force Paul to give up HIS holy war and step down from the throne and leadership of the Freemen. They will free the Freemen of Paul. Paul realizes it is the right thing to do. He will walk into the Desert alone after he kills his mother Lady Jessica. This wraps up Denis Trilogy, the end. Paul has no children so no way to make Children of Dune by any Director. And no one can say Denis made a white savior movie. In fact he clearly did the opposite. Much more clearly than Frank Herbert’s books do. For Denis the third movie writes itself. It’s lazy writing.

@@wackyvorlon Apparently virtue signaling is. No Chani isn't the main character. Denis must not think the Spacing Guild is important. Or Mentants, or Duncan Idaho, or the convention against thinking machines, Paul and Chani"s children and the importance of Leto II in the Frank Herbert books. Or that the Sister Hood isn't evil. They didn't Voice the Emperor into wiping out the Atradies blood line. That would be stupid of them to do. When he was tested she could/would have Gom Gibard him pass or fail and Jessica would have let her leave Caloden before saying Paul is dead to the Duke. That part of Denis version is so stupid, she let's him live. And then gets the Emperor to scheme with the Hark-O-nens instead? Clever... I could poke him with a needle dead or I know, I'll get the Emperor to do it through convoluted schemes and armies, a secret plan with the Baron. Much better plan. In the book the Emperor grew wary of the Duke on his own and the Sister Hood tried to keep Paul and Jessica out of it. She could have just killed Paul during the hot box test. Great writing Denis! Visuals non better than Denis, his logic in this story bad. He wants a Hollywood trophy and you get it by virtue signaling. Frank Herbert's story-who cares. I care and Dune going woke too-really sucks.

@@wackyvorlon yes I have and Denis is doing his version described above. He wants a Hollywood trophy and is virtue signaling. Total abandoning Frank Herbert 's narrative. My prediction is going to be very accurate. Unfortunately. Remember this when you watch part 3. It will barely resemble Dune Messiah. A gutted virtue signaling version by Denis. He will be patted on the back for it and rewarded. Why in Denis version does the Sisterhood "voice" the Emperor into killing the Atradies? In the book the Emperor became wary of the Duke and the Sister Hood try to keep Jessica and Paul out of harms way. In the movie, the Sister Hood want the Atradies dead? Doesn't make sense. Why didn't the Reverend Mother Gom Gabar Paul during the test pass or fail. Jessica would have let her leave before telling the Duke Paul is dead. And Jessica would believe Paul failed the human test. One touch of a needle at Paul's neck but No. I will let him live then Voice the Emperor to plot with the Baron to send combined armies to Dune after moving the Harkonens out, Atradies in. Kill Atradies then Harkonens back in? What! Poke Paul in the neck with the poison. You safely leave. Paul's death is going to destroy the Duke, alienate him from Jessica no fuss or bother. Barely a inconvenience. 100% foolproof. Paul would have died. No let's do a elaborate plan instead. Stupid lazy writing by Denis. Looks incredible! Story wrecked. Another WOKE victim.
