House Harkonnen was a Great House during the time of the Padishah Emperors. Their capital was Giedi Prime, a heavily industrialised planet with a low photosynthetic potential. House Harkonnen was most famous for its underhanded and sinister political tactics, and for an ancient feud it maintained with another Great House, House Atreides. In addition, House Harkonnen had a reputation for ambition, malevolence, hatred and brutality. It was typically ruled by a Siridar Baron.
The Harkonnen name was believed to originate in what was northern Europe on ancient Earth, and the region of Earth called Suomi, also Finland. It has been suggested that the Harkonnen name comes from Sweden as a derivation of Hakkon - but it is likely that it is indeed from Finland, as Härkönen is a 20th-century Finnish name. Moreover, the family name Härkönen is derived from the Finnish word härkä which means ox - the icon of Harkonnen.

Funny thing is Harkonen was originally Blue, and Atredies was Green, as for Ordos Westwood created that house.

You know that in Dune Universe, everybody has a shield that stops projectiles, and beacouse of that most armiest consist of melee warriors? Well, on Arrkonis shields are dangerouse beacouse they piss off Wyrms, so Fremen use our "modern" tactics, but great houses should have problem with retraining their armies and inventing new tanks and vehicles, while in every dune rts everybody just shoots at everyone

I always had a scouting parties knocking out their harvesters, if i played ordos I had a gas launcher taking over their harvesters when they are full to go to my side, or taking over their Spice industries and selling them instantly, the AI could not cope with this tactic at all, love this game great video. Build silos for gods sake :D, you miss small amounts of valuable spice by not doing it, even that the announcer hasnt got a chance to say that you need a silo.

Playing Harkonnen without hearing "Rise of the Harkonnen" is a crime! I mean, that music fits so perfectly to the entire theme of Harkonnen and of the game itself.

he atradies ,ordos , harkonans - building, construction complete ,silos needed, mission accomplished , you have died many times we have seen it , lady corah, training ,we are under attack , our base is under attack , atadies- well taught commander ....and so on . really impressive game and soundtrack i was in the 5th grade in the year 1999 when i first played this game in win 98
