I absolutely loved this game as a kid, I used to play this and Total Annihilation all the time. I remember I loved the first Atreides mission that you could capture the smuggler starport because I'd deliberately not destroy the enemy base and I'd set up a massive line of seige tanks along the ridge line near the starport so it was impossible for enemy's to even get close

Props to you for finishing this game on Hard difficulty. I struggled so much with it. Getting past level 8 on normal already, especially with Atriedes, felt next to impossible. Only made it on sheer luck in some cases.

I remember when I was a kid and me and my “dad” were at a garage sale. My dad just got a pc and saw the CDs and asked the seller what they were, which he said they were pc games. Asked my dad if we can get them. He said if you figure out how to install them then you can play these game all you want on the PC which I said deal!! My dad never let me use the PC before but whenever he used it I’d watch him use it. Didn’t take long I mean it literally tells how to do it. Man still one of the most influential game in my life more then Pokémon.

It’s the same composer as in Dune 2 and a lot of the same music is used. In a interview he told that the music in dune 2000 sounded like the way he wanted to sound it in Dune 2

I’m actually a little bit stunned by how blatantly _Tiberian Sun_ is just _Dune 2000_ with all the copyrighted material replaced. The trick before attacking a base is to attack one of their defenders with a trike and lure them to your base of rocket turrets and other defenders. Its like watching the 300 movie - only you have a reserve force ready to annihilate them once their base is empty and destroyed most of their forces. Your play style is faster and messy with alot more deaths on your side. But there are many ways to play this game.

Yes you only need one 2x2 square to place a wind trap. However, the structure WILL sustain CONSTANT weathering DAMAGE, and therefore require REPEATED maintenance due to lack of a COMPLETE foundation. Something that should be taken into consideration when building a military base.

Dune 2 was the grandaddy of all of the RTS games that followed in this style, and the lessons learned in Dune 2 led to C&C... in the original Dune 2 for example you could only select 1 unit at a time, it was painful when you had a lot of them to move. So, many of the lessons from C&C made it back into Dune 2000!

The warfare doesn't convince me. Not enough intelligent control of the units and differentiation according to characteristics. Rocket launcher units stored on the same number as tanks? I think the player is too focused on one place and too many warnings are ignored, so mane harvesters were lost.

Which resolution did you use? I've tried the gruntmods version but I can only get the animated map ( 2:00 in your video ) working if I play on 640x400.

as far as I know the map bugs with any resolution settings. it only ever worked on the first mission for me lol.
