Unlike the Mad Max game that came out a few years ago , this game looks like its taking HEAVY inspiration from the Denis Villeneuve films. It seems like its not trying to be a movie tie in game but has an identical scene from the movie in it. Instead of using the source material to come up with the own ideas. Even down to using the exact ornithopters from the movie instead of making something different based on how the books described them.

It’s sold as a “what if” scenario to the Dune universe, keeping visual aesthetics close to the films. I think there is a trailer that explains how this game approaches lore. Inevitably, you as the player shape your own destiny.

Oh cool, they turned the extremely interesting and unique world of Dune into a generic by-the-books survival craft game with sloppy, by-the-books third person sci fi shooter gameplay. That's totally what I wanted.

I would've liked this if this was a proper single player (or co-op) rpg... not a MMO. I'm in my mid 40's now and have no time for the countless wasted hours that have to go into mmo nonsense... It was fine in my 20's for games like everquest and WoW... but I just don't have the time (or will) to endure all the BS time wasting that comes with MMOs.

Was kinda hoping this would have an E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy feel to combat and ability progression/selection; something really crazy that would be worthy of an mmo and fitting of the setting. It looked very very very rough instead, like Defiance and the plethora of other generic shooter mmos from the early 2010s and even earlier. Then the survival craft clips came in and it stopped looking and feeling like I was watching a game about the infamously harsh Arrakis and Dune at all. It was an overly ambicious project and so were the expectations, is what it seems like.
