@@vlefteris I am a proud owner of dune man I got to say it's worth every penny I am receiving high quality files (4k) movies with ATMOS via true HD being shared via plex the picture and sound is kick ass and so is the streaming platforms work like butter and the picture is very clear 😊

@@GAVhometheatreguide8226 Yes I am sure of it! I have a Zidoo Z9X and it has problems with movie freezing and Usb HDDs stuck, but I wont get Z9X Pro, I will go for this Dune! I like that it plays both MEL and FEL layers and better firmware support overall!

The problems you had with the strange picture artefacts could be related to chroma subsampling settings. Try 4:4:4 vs 4:2:2 vs 4:2:0 to see if there's any option that works for you. I recognized similar problems with my UHD disc player. It also depends on the capabilities of your TV / beamer. After testing, with different options and files, I found settings that worked fine for me.

I just bought this player and it doesn't seem to auto detect dolby vision when I play M2TS files, these are lossless rips of my 4k movies. Any ideas?

Hello, Dolby Vision and HDR must be extracted using MakeMKV directly from the source ISO or rip. The raw M2TS is nothing more than the transport stream with no information besides video and audio stream minus metadata. Visit makemkv.com to start your research on that. There are other apps to help with extracting Dolby Vision but I use MakeMKV and have never had problems with it.

@@MancaveCentral1 thanks for responding but dont worry i sorted it tonight. DVD fab for some reason has the check box ticked by default to remove dolby vision when you rip 4k movies. Completely bonkers if you ask me as it's buried in the settings not obvious. I unticked the box and re-ripped a movie in M2TS and it plays with dolby vision auto detected. So happy🙂 I find M2TS files start much quicker than MKV files thats why I prefer them.

wow you know your stuff cool deal , so im looking at upgrading my android box i been using nivvid sheild but there box is not working good, so i have a simular setup you have except im using onyko tx 6100 so will this box work with dobly dtsx on like streaming movies ? i have Klipsch 5.1.2 with my system.

Hello, how are your video files starting so fast, i just got a Dune Real Vision and from the moment i press play/enter to the moment it actually starts the movie i have like a 5 seconds delay, yours seems much faster.

Hey Mancave, I was wondering for movies with 2 discs like Zack Snyder's justice league, how does it work. Do you have to create 2 seperate folders for each disc or put both folders into one main folder and it works? Just curious because I am planning on purchasing.

Did Dune ever fix the sharing over Windows network folders issue? It's really annoying when you share folders on your local network and then when you try to access with your Dune player it won't.

Is this thing playing MKV files with Dolby Vision ripped from something like MakeMKV? My entire collection is in Plex as MKV files so I'd love if this could handle them as-is without having to re-rip into ISO files...

Indeed the player is doing that, hence one of the reasons for the video. I will not go into the process of how it's done but there are lengthy discussions about how to do it dating back to 2019 on the makemkv forums as well as other scene sites. I too use PLEX but PLEX is not a supported app on the Dune players. However, I believe PLEX does support Dolby Vision on certain media players such as the Nvidia Shield. I do not have DV in my home theater since no projector supports it yet so I never investigated other options of playback and or ripping. Unfortunately, for you, having a vast collection of rips will not just automatically give you Dolby Vision. That is a specific layer on the disc that the ripping tool must extract and it only started to become available recently. You could grab the titles from torrents or usenet though, they're all out there in full bitrate glory.

@@MancaveCentral1 Yep I'm an active participant in most of those MakeMKV threads! All my MKV files are ripped with the latest version of MakeMKV that adds DV to the final files. I'm playing back on a Shield Pro with DV right now, so I'm hoping this player will provide the same experience, just without the few hiccups I've seen with Plex on the Shield.

The streamer is excellent but we have been using PLEX for so long it made more sense to stick with the Nvidia Shield Pro. My projector doesn't do Dolby Vision and I don't listen to music in the theater so I didn't use it that often. The plan was to listen to multichannel music but I found it to be too gimmicky. I bought a DAC dedicated to High Res audio for the listening room that is more of what I needed.

The Dune HD offers a limitless amount of GUI options. I just left the factory default option as is. SInce i was focussed on the devices ability to access HD Audio files and Dolby Vision movies, the streamers GUI was not given any attention.

Can somebody please help me out? I recently sold my DVDFab Movie Server to replace it with a Dune HD Provision 4K Solo to get the benefits of Dolby Vision. I insert my previous hard disk that I used on my DVDFab Movie Server that has blu ray folders and isos. When I try to play anything on my Dune with the internal drive inserted I just get an error permission denied writing on my screen and it cannot index my hard disk completely either. Is there any way I can fix this without having to format my hard drive?

I have no experience with or have even heard of DVDFab Movie Server but I suspect the device has its own OS format on the drive incompatible with that of the Dune. In a perfect world, you would have accessed the DVDFab drive over the network through a share and transferred the content off and onto another drive. With that no longer possible, are you able to take the drive and plug it into a desktop PC sata port or external USB3 to sata cable and see if you can copy the contents that way. Whatever the solution, I feel it will involve moving the contents off one drive and on to another.
