I watched some speedrun videos recently, mainly classics like Mario, Doom, etc... out of boredom typed "Dune 2 speedrun"... i was expecting something cool, but holy damn, this is absolute blast! Sabotaging factory at 90% unit ready? I didn't even know you can do it :D Just wow.

I hope you don't expect many views on this Because many dune 2 connoisseurs are either dead today (not a joke, sadly) or too old to care about such videos. I'm neither, so that's why I'm here, lol

Yay, free harvester! TBH I disagree with high priority on barracks, don't see any point in making pathing awkward and letting refinery live longer. This still could be optimized way better. Tried to do starve strats myself, but unfortunately APM was too low. Wrap around refinery was awkward in this one, because quads need to be more in the north-west direction to do it properly.

Right hand map might be an option, but not sure if it would be any faster. In left hand map the base is much further away. In this map barracks is right next to LF so it's quick to take out right after capturing LF. If it produces infantry, those blocks tight corridors inside the base. Should've destroyed the refinery and not capture it.

Did some runs (and a pretty significant time improvement). It turns out enemy should have some starting credits and his decision to repair building is kinda RNG. Even when completely denied him harvesting, still found money to repair structures. Feels like this game requires some deeper analysis to eat those seconds. Also heard destroying enemy structures grants them credits. But what if both silo and refinery are gone? Other maps don't look that hot mostly because there will be an enemy quad pulled. Trikes/infantry are punching bags compared to those. And it would be lovely to hit the good timing on enemy quad production (capturing when 90% of quad done). Refinery was very awkward :D probably cost about 10 seconds having to manuever around it.

To me it appeared the CPU couldn't repair if silo and refinery were gone, but didn't really experiment with it much. So many underlying mechanics you'd never consider in casual play, much more into this game beyond first glance. Will be interesting to see more fresh strats :)
