Hi Dire Wolf, with regards to this upgrade, i feel for this price there should be 1) upgrades for the influence markers, VP markers, dreadnoughts. 2) also, as we now have the troops miniatures, it would be nice to have stickers to paste over the ‘ugly’ troops cubes on the board.

With this upgrade you don’t even use troop cubes so why would they give stickers for that?

I'm not sure the "spice must flow" sleeve is particularly useful since those cards are meant to be shuffled into your deck.

Don't mean to sound bitter but I probably will, I'm gutted I can't find this anywhere, no store online sells it and it's out of stock on any that said it does. No information available about when to expect it anywhere kinda seems odd to show this off when hardly anyone can even buy it I've asked multiple times about when or if we can expect it in the UK and have received vague answers oh well looks nice shame the original game didn't just come like this

Im not guying this because of the grey miniatures. I garuantee 90% of the poeple buying arent going to paint them...and the people that do probably have ways they can make it work even if they are coloured. Is there a reason why they can't match there army colours instead of those rings on the bottom?

Man I'm a huge Dune fan and Dune-Imperium is one of the best games of the past years, but it's so hard for me to justify this purchase. My main reason to buy it would be the box, but that's a very expensive box. The combat miniatures look great but you add a disfunctional symbol to the game (cubes), the other miniatures are white which is also a bummer for people like me who can't paint and those basically remove a very clear faction symbol from the game. Besides the coin the stuff in there actually degrade the game in a sense, which is so sad. Also if you have The rise of Ix (which everyone should as that makes the game a really good base game) you also need to buy the dreadnaughts... They could have at least made nice tokens for spice, solari and water, that is something the game really needs. It's a bit of a mess to me. But I'll get it some day anyways I guess... and that is what they count on.

@@a.wosaibi to me character minis make more sense when their being moved around like in an adventure game. this game has a different POV. they're used more as symbols here. also, i don't like when symbols don't match like the cube

I think in the legends books they mention Atreides logo being a red hawk with green/black uniforms and Harkonnen blue/orange uniforms, I thought that was kind of funny as we all grew up with Harkonnen being visually red and Atreides blue in Dune 2, which is almost the exact opposite. Funny how a game developer just decided those colors and added a 3rd house that barely has any mention in the whole Dune universe, and many of use just took that as granted. Also just shows how good and revolutionary Dune 2 was in that time. For me Dune 2 was about the first 'serious' game I played on PC and I still have all the visuals and audio in my head from those times.

How sad that this is what the board game industry has come too. Making expensive, luxury products that offer no gameplay value but only visual bells and whistles. Gone are the days when Puerto Rico was the pinnacle of elegance. Now it's all about how much plastic is in the box. It's a clever way to cash in the hobby's rising popularity, but relying on the sort of people who care about this sort of nonsense over good gameplay is not a recipe for long term prosperity and when the dust settles they'll move on to the next shiny toy and hopefully leave the few rest of us to enjoy our hobby in peace, having, at last, returned to sanity.

To be fair, this is a cosmetic expansion that is 100% optional. The base game doesn't have any of these. The base game is also available at a fair price, about 55bucks, and got an expansion without plastic. I mean, I'm on board with your criticism when it comes to the industry in general, particularly when considering the shitshow kickstarter has become, selling completly absurd packages with boardgames at 500,1000+ bucks (all being composed of like 20kg of plastic when we know plastic is a problem.) That's the sad reality : Most people are dumb enough to "justify" spending minimum wage on a single game without having playing it once (and they likely won't even play it enough to make it worth it's cost either way.) I mean. I'm still wondering who can throw 1 000 euros at plastic minis and justify that, it's non-sense. Yeah sure people can do what they want, but it's wrong on so many level, it is just insane. I'm not even talking about the ones doing this for multiple boardgames (should I say plasticboxes) spending 10k a year. That being said, I think this criticism has nothing to do here since this is what I'd call fair practice. For once, we got a good, solid game, with meeples, at a very reasonable price and a real content expansion (rise of Ix). They just give the choice to add some cosmetic addon that doesn't provide anything else than what it's been created for. Purely optional.

Thankfully, the good thing about board games is that you buy them once and they last you a lifetime so all the amazing games that were created before the bane of kickstarter and Asmodee are still there to enjoy.
