Frank Herbert was also stunningly anti-gay, even disowning his son and making Baron Harkonnen a gay-coded villain and a ped. Changing that in the new films was very welcome

I didn’t know that about Frank Herbert. I agree that wasn’t needed in the current films.

I have never seen such a huge steaming shit taken on the very soul of a book in such visually stunning and engaging way. I have to rewatch the BBC miniseries to get the taste out of my mouth.

The miniseries was good. Far easier to portray such a story with a longer format. I would’ve preferred the recent release to be shot as a multi episode miniseries too… But I think the movie did a good job (very similar to the 1984 version).

Also Paul does not become the kwizi haddie. He specifically tells his mother he is NOT. He is something else, the Whirlwind.

True. He’s a lesser version… Limited sight and limited abilities - thus, Children of Dune. The story of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune is going to be a lot harder to bring to the screen. I guess time will tell if they do it right.
