Dune to Denis Villenueve might be what The Dark knight is to Nolan. This could make Denis a league above everyone else currently.

People have been missing out if they didn't already think Villenueve has been a league above everyone else. I mean, Nolan also made Momento and The Prestige before The Dark Knight. If it takes a $100M+ franchise to make those people pay attention, so be it.

@DoroteoVilla
@DoroteoVilla 7 ай бұрын
“Ya Hya Chouhada!” I’ve read the entire Frank Herbert saga of Dune and a central moment in the first book is when Paul takes the Dukedom of Arrakis and gives his famous “Long Live The Fighters!” speech. He refuses to challenge Stilgar to take the leader role of Sietch Tabr. Though he uses the voice in the book and I haven’t seen him use it in the trailer, just seeing it land in the trailer as well as it did when I first read Dune is enough for me to be hyped beyond words. I might run through the IMAX screen during that scene in the theater.

I was going to watch Dune: Part One ahead of watching this movie but the procrastinator that I am waited until after part two to take the time to watch the first. Without any knowledge of the characters or story, I was still invested in the story and captivated by the world. I love this movie, and I'm going to see it in theaters again today just because I have the time. I couldn't even put into words how I felt after the credits rolled. That says something. I am not much of a reader but after seeing this movie I am going to buy all 6 books and read them by the end of the year. Absolutely incredible. i can't wait for what's to come.

Imagery and acting aside, I really really hope Villeneuve truly honors Herbert's story and doesn't turn Paul into a classic hero. He's deeply flawed and ultimately refuses to take the path that might save humanity. If that doesn't come through - at least to a degree that leaves the general audience a little unsure - I'll be disappointed. No matter how beautiful and well-acted it may be.

It’s funny how many Dune Pt 2 reviewers mention their suffering bladders, yet many of the same people also say they would have liked 15-30 more minutes to round out the story lines. Re doing weird things to the sandworm popcorn bucket: Chris Gore started one of the Film Threat videos doing this exact weird thing using a model sandworm dating from the David Lynch version. Got to go see it in IMAX last night -- early release. HOLY COW. I was blown away, even more than the first one (which I thought was impossible). I will with an absolutely straight face put the Dune movies on the same shelf as LOTR. No joke. The acting was so good I doubt I'll ever see something that good again, as far as every single cast member being so good, they made me completely believe in that character, like it was real.

The writer Edgar Rice Burroughs influenced much with "A Princess of Mars." I have this weird feeling that "Dune 2" will break into the top 100 movies on my favorites list. I love "Star Wars" since a child. I hated "Dune" in 1984 with Sting. I love Sting as an musician. "Dune" in 2021 is good and I really liked it, but somehow the Anti-Christ (Mahdi) making it to Jerusalem is unlikely to surpass "Star Wars." It might be interesting in a SCI-FI film to see Islam's vision of peace, and so I am glad that "Dune" will have a part two, but I'm not holding my breath that it will make the top 100 favorite movies. As a child when I read the book I felt it pulled from Lawrence of Arabia and Islamic culture of the Caucasus or Bedouin tribes of Arabia, but I never got the idea of Atreides being America with capitalism waning. The movie in 2021 helped me see that connection. The Fremen call Paul the Mahdi is a dead give away that this whole thing is an Islamic end times vision. Hence the dead bodies that Paul sees piling up as he fulfills his place in history, by leaving America and being a Muslim as that is how the movie ends. Here is where these three related series have fallen so far and any you don't see aren't loved enough to mention. 20) Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back (1980) 21) Star Wars: a New Hope (1977) 112) John Carter (2012) 148) Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983) 269) Dune (2021) To quote the author "I am showing you the superhero syndrome and your own participation in it." - Frank Herbert, speaking about "Dune." "A Princess of Mars," from 1912, inspired things like: Star Wars, Avatar, Indiana Jones, Superman, and Dune. "A Princess of Mars" even inspired Ray Douglas Bradbury. If you want to see a movie of it, see "John Carter" from 2012. But the main reason for me to watch Dune 2 is to see whether Zendaya Coleman surpasses female actresses I loved in the past. Another in the top 100 and she will surpass all female actresses at least for having three movies in the top 100. The most have six movies on the list and two doing better than her top two. 10) Spiderman: No Way Home (2021) 96) The Greatest Showman (2017) 190) Spiderman: Far from Home (2019) 197) Spiderman: Homecoming (2017) 269) Dune (2021)

You're not alone, i had zero emotional attachment to anyone or anything in this film. Horribly disappointing...stick to the book...instead of bowing to modern societal drivel. Graphics 10...story 0. Hollywood unforgivably turned Chani into a dis-likable, defiant, testosterone-infused modern girl boss who rode off into the sun set on a worm. This removed a key turning point for Paul as his power to "look into the future " made him select the best path for the future knowing that this path would result in his beloved Chani being killed during an attack? Another stinker was making up the freemen sub groups - the North freemen (intellectual-atheists) and the Southern (fundamentalist dolts). Fake Chani of course was a northern and was beyond all the Messiah hype.
