To me it looked very intentional the way Desmond placed his bloody hand in front of Valya and waited for her to look down at it before moving away. I think he knows or suspects that the sisterhood has AI and he wants them to find out where his roots are because he wants to know, too. And of course he wants more proof the sisters are using the forbidden technology so that he can then tell the emperor.

@axebeard60859 күн бұрын
54:46 There's two possibilities for how Desmond found the device. 1. He used the Imperial surveillance files the Empress gave him. He tracked down the dealers, which led him to the buyers, which led him to the device. 2. (SPOILERS) Desmond is almost certainly Andros, son of the Titan Agamemnon. This would make him the brother of Vorian Atreides. Agamemnon was killed by Vorian Atreides. Andros and his sister wanted revenge on Vorian. (It was Andros, not Vorian, who killed Griffin Harkonnen.) Agamemnon had given Andros the same life-extension treatment (which slows or stops aging; I can't remember which) that he gave Vorian. He also gave Andros machine strength. Andros would probably know just as much, if not more, about AI than anyone else in the Imperium. Andros likely also has some kind of nanobots in his body that cause people to burn. His scars are the result of those nanobots tearing through his skin. I doubt his life-extension treatment would have saved him from a sandworm attack, but his machine strength might have. My question is: if Desmond is Andros, where is his sister?

In the books, it's clear that even though there's a hierarchy in the Sisterhood, it's based more on leadership and roles on the team than on absolute rank. Sometimes someone with unique abilities or perception has more influence than their official station or seniority would suggest. Personal relationships between the sisters can be key at the higher levels in determining decisions, actions, and events. Also the Sisterhood strongly encourages curiosity and generally errs on the side of trusting everyone in the Order with all the information and interpretation about those outside the Order. The main secrets they keep from their fellow sisters are: 1) the existence of the computer with the breeding index; 2) the parentage (or offspring) of sisters, to cut familial ties which might complicate their plans in some way. The secrets they keep from their fellow humans, on the other hand....

Episode 4 was one of the best tie-them-all crafted narrative I've seen incl the movie adaptations. In one episode it tagged characters from Frank Herbert's books, that I read over 40 years ago, to his son Brian Herbert's books current storyline. Basically, my take is: Leto Atreides is the terror from the future time, and mind, traveling 10k years before to get back at the Spice Girls Sisterhood. His physical vessel to do this could be none other than a cloned version of the first Atreides who is now possessed by his descendant Leto Atreides from the future. Brillian concept, if they can spice up to fold space and travel, then why not use spice to fold time itself and go 10k years into the past? Brilliant episode.

53:30. I thought it was pretty obvious how Desmond found the drone. Keiran's partner Horace clearly said he was going to release it into the vents, after which Keiran was supposed to remove the grate in the throne room and let the drone through. However, Desmond sent the Emperor's men out to arrest the thinking machine dealers found on the surveillance files he got from the Empress, and Horace got caught before he had the opportunity to release the drone. So the drone ended up in Desmond's hands, and Horace got executed.

There are many writers who treat deductive reasoning like it is magic (likely because they don't understand deductive reasoning.) This is what I loved about the Ellery Queen TV show. Ok, since we're delving into outright spoilers here... The show is obviously trying to do some heavy lifting of the lore before the next Dune Film (Dune Messiah). It has to establish gholas, and the Tleilaxu, They also seem to be setting up the fact that the Bene Gesserit fail to become what they should have become (forcing Paul's son to correct their mistakes). I don't know if this is to set the stage for Paul's son, or if the films are going to put Paul into his son's role. I am pretty sure this is how it will play out: 1. Lila is something similar to a ghola of Dorotea, but not quite. Theodora will learn that Lila was brought back to life, and has memories of Dorotea. 2. The Tleilaxu will capture Theodora, and learn about Lila. However, Theodora didn't learn how Lila was created. So, the Tleilaxu spend the next 10,000 years learning how to make a ghola. They know it can be done, and they believe the former memories MIGHT be accessible. This would explain how the dwarf Bijaz suspected that memories could be recovered, but didn't know for certain. 3. The Tleilaxu create Hayt as a trap for Paul in Dune Messiah. It's just a shame how inaccessible Dune Prophecy is to most audiences. From what I'm hearing, there is just so much unexplained lore (which hardcore fans love) that the show becomes boring.

I think this is the first time we see Desmond lying while he claims to tell always the truth. We know Desmond killed the kid because he wants to stop the Sisterhood's influence. He didn't care about the machine toy. So, he lied to the princess at the beginning of the episode and lied at the landlord meeting. By mixing lies and truths he was able to turn the tables. I am pretty sure the real reason why he punished those people is because he knew the Sisterhoods were involved and because he wanted to put the Emperor in the position of power again but it looks more like a manipulation.

Can you explain a little more?
@axebeard60858 күн бұрын
@@kranatsnah (SPOILERS) About 1000 years before Dune Prophecy, a group of revolutionaries decided human society had become decadent, corrupt, and apathetic. These revolutionaries named themselves after legendary individuals from history. They were then known as Titans, and the leader was Agamemnon. They were brutal rulers, and as they grew older, some of them decided to put their brains in preservation tanks (making them immortal) and putting the tanks into Cymek machine bodies. They left the day-to-day management to an AI, which eventually took control. Because of its programming, the AI couldn't kill the Titans. The Titans essentially became powerless celebrities. Agamemnon used his stored sperm to have children. One of those children was Vorian Atreides. Agamemnon gave Vorian life-extension treatments. (This is why Vorian Atreides is still alive generations after the end of the Butlerian Jihad. Agamemnon had other children. One was Andros. Andros received the life-extension treatments AND was given machine strength. Because of Vorian killed the Titans, Andros wanted revenge. I believe Desmond is Andros, and wants to destroy the Corrino empire that Vorian Atreides helped create. The major unifying factor that could keep the various factions in the Imperium intact is the Bene Gesserit. Without their guidance, the Imperium would be MUCH easier to fragment and destroy. Andros would also be intimately familiar with machines and AI. The "burning" could be caused by some kind of nanobots that rip through his skin when he uses them to burn someone. In the novels, it was Andros that killed Griffin Harkonnen, not Vorian Atreides.

might cause issues but it is something to talk about. with hollywood these days got a checklist to mark off being one is lgbq+ representation it does raise questions how they gonna do that in the show and the ending is that key to the checklist. theodosia is a facedancer, ppl gone through experimentation by treilaxu that can completely alter their looks, voice and gender. other known name is Jadacha hermaphrodites. in the board game of dune when playing treilaxu you have access to them and they can benefit you by playing a traitor card you got tied to another house. so if opponent plays that character then play the card saying that person is a facedancer and screw them there. facedancers are near immune on ppl; cant tell their true form except experienced reverend mothers by pheromone if they smell something is off one being if a male disguise themselves as female and vice versa. so from beginning of show valya knew theodosia isnt who the yseem to be do to the pheromone they gave off isnt true to who they are. so depending if they go into it theodosia base origins as a facedancer is male, chose to convert to be female and hide among sisterhood. valya quickly picked up on this and demanded why they are here and base on the reason valya let them but follow their orders to the teeth. amd yeah the transformation is [ainful since they are pretty much converting their entire body to look like someone else and even sex to match it.

I think people who think Desmond is the big bad are missing the point while Desmond may be a evil manic every single thing he is saying about the sister hood is facts the real big bad is the sister and it’s kinda annoying seeing people not realize it or maybe they just don’t care like I truly believe if the sisterhood was called the Brotherhood and was men instead of women nobody would be sympathizing or rooting for them

Exactly. I mean, if he was sent by Shai- Hulud, shouldn't the audience be rooting for him?

What? This is not how Dune try to tell it's themes. The only "antagonists" in Dune are the people who knowning it or not are taking humanity to a path of annihilation. The Bene Gesserit's ultimate purposse becomes to manipulate humanity to be able to survive (they do fail sometimes in their calculations) but they don't want to manipulate the universe just for power. There are no "good guys" in Dune, there is the possibility of salvation or humanity's doom.

Please react to Police Academy , it’s a great laughter🙏🏽😁

48:41 The problem you're having is the result of the show doing a poor job of showing the philosophical schism between what the Bene Gesserit could have been and what Valya turned it into. This is one of those things that is great for those who have read the novels (in this case the 4th novel, God Emperor of Dune). But it sucks for people who haven't read it.

I'm out of this series, the original timeline is completely messed up.

Regarding Baron Harkonnen, where did he come from. Tula and Valya are his aunts. Griffin is his uncle. So, did Griffin have a child?

I didn't know either, so I searched and according to the family tree, it seems there is another (older?) brother, Danvis Harkonnen, perhaps he is dead too, since Harrow told Valya that Vergyl was still who was the chef of the family and Harrow shouldn't take decision without him, so presumably his dad died and he is next in line after Vergyl or he took his position as baron since Vergyl was old and clearly very ill. 🤔

This show is ok. But man can it be boring

I find Desmond Hart so boring. When he was giving that irrelevant monologue during the Lansraad about creatures on Arrakis I zoned out and wanted to fast forward.

I actually skipped through that monologue by 10 sec increments and I still got the idea. Personally I think Fimmel is a one note actor and I find myself always thinking of who would've been a better choice for the role whenever he shows up on screen

One note is the word! I'm not familiar with the actor but this character is so monotonous and it's hard to stay engaged with no real insight into his motives. Like why is he so in love with that mediocre emperor? If he wants to scheme the empress is clearly the one to do it with.

I love the Dune universe and books but god this series is starting to drag, charachters motivations are still unkown 4 episodes in... At least in GOT everything got laid in the pilot...
@Alejojojo69 күн бұрын
I disagree. Motives are very clear and its not draging. If you know your lore you know a lot of things hidden in this 4 episodes to be released. In the pilot of GOT you dont get a lot at all. Plus that scene is literally copy cat from the book so it works also in the show as in the book. This is not based on scenes from the book.
